Cons
Management is hypocrites, they dont really value the employees or pay them well enough. They don't mind giving themselves hikes, but go to the extent of reducing the quality of toilet rolls in the loo (I'm not joking.. it was done to send a message of recession and set an expectation of no pay hikes!!)
Tata code of conduct is not really followed.. everything is just lip service/ tick in the box service..
Advice to Senior Management
Your penny wise-pound foolish policies have got this company to its lowest ebb unfortunately..
Pros
Having a big brand name assosiated with your CV or resume.
Well know compnay but outside of India for all of the wrong reasons.
Gives you a REAL insight.
Cons
Lack of honesty within the cutlure.
Communication barriers (many expats in the UK do not speak good English, certainly not good enough to do the job well.)
If your not Indian, you will not make it into the senior roles.
Reactive approach to clients good at doing what they are told not advising for benefit
Advice to Senior Management
Take a lie detector on a weekly basis.
Pros
TCS has phenomenal people - this is bar far one of the best reasons to work for TCS. In my years with the company I have been extremely impressed with the caliber of the people I have interacted with. There are also a variety of career opportunities. I have seen people start in consulting and move into another workforce later in their career when they needed a change or wanted a slower pace but still have a challenging and interesting career. TCS is a top notch, highly reputable company which makes me proud to be employed there. It offers excellent benefits and flexibility,
Cons
Promotion is biased and there is no such thing as work life balance. There is no importance given to your career growth. You have to be chargeble and working at all times even though the work is not related to your skill set.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees as human beings.
Pros
International company with recognised brand name. Really motivated to become a global top 10 company and is willing to invest heavily to do this. Opportunities to travel and work with very interesting people who are motivated and be the best they can be.
Cons
Not many to mention at the minute
Advice to Senior Management
Perhaps be more motivated to improve internal procedures.
Pros
1. Job Security and good On-site opportunities.
2. Reletively easy life if you manage to keep the client happy.
Cons
1. Salary not at par with market standards
2. Management is not strong. Managers look for more business opportunities at the cost of self-respect of employees.
3. Lack of senior management concern for employees well being and problems faced.
4. Absolutely no training opportunites. Policy is learn while you work.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Do not look for business opportunities at the cost of self-respect of employees.
2. Have a long term vision.
3. Show some concern for employees well being.
4. Get rid of rigid policies - these policies prevent TCS from adopting market standards of work, travel etc.
