I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent Compensation is offered to employees, employs the maximum number of people in the Indian IT/ITes industry, flexibility in working hours depending on the manager, high number of on-site opportunities in client locations in and outside India

    Cons

difficult to change roles and take up activities that you would prefer , possibility of monotony because of the previous concern, promotions might be affected by your appraisals that went wrong

Senior management must connect to the employees at all levels for better feedback and guide them for developing career choices in technology, as well as other skill attributes. focus should shift from services to developing and marketing more products/solutions

I worked at Tata Consultancy Services full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. A good chance of getting international experience
    2. A good client base which means you will be working with people, process and technology setting the standards for the industry.
    3. TCS lays good importance on values. Of course, the job security is high. They have loads of programs like TCS Maitree, Toast Master Club etc which are really are good initiatives outside work

    Cons

    1. Middle Management ( Teal Leads, Module Leads, Account Manager etc) need better exposure and training to deal with diverse workforce.

    2. Compensation is not that good and mostly it is disappointing for the employees who joined as fresher and didn't get better hikes than average industry.

    3. You might feel stuck in career if not in hands of good management/project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Management should me more flexible towards changing locations/projects/roles for the employees.

    2. Employee mentoring should be given importance

    3. Since TCS has clients from various sectors in different geographies on different technology, it can easily show the employees how they can build their career profile by gaining rich and diverse experience. It won't be bad idea for TCS to adopt 'Up or Out' policy i.e either you grow withing the company or build strong profile to purse your career in are of your interest, higher education etc
