I worked at Tata Consultancy Services (North America) part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Work was chill , not too strict on office timings as long as work gets done. Good work ethic and lot of knowledge around.

    Cons

Rarely felt disconnected as the higher order employees are extremely busy and it gets sticky if you have to interact with them on the daily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everything is fine. Pay more attention to the office and expand as much as possible !

I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services (North America) full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good if you're Indian, especially South Indian (aka Tamil Consultancy Services!)
People come in late to work, but also leave late(r) - somewhat laid back but goes crazy at the end
Can do attitude - sometimes too confident, even in areas where lacking in skills!
Salary raises are decent and bonus is not bad either

    Cons

Lack of transparency and too much bureaucracy
Too much of India based resources - who often lack professionalism needed in the US marketplace
Despite attempts to enter higher complexity or strategic areas - focus remains mostly tactical with India centric delivery
People will take your ideas and showcase them as their own
Promotions are slow / time based - new hires may not realize damage done when joining at levels that are not self evident
Lack of diversity - mostly only Indian and a few White American males - hardly any women or other minorities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve transparency and communications. Reduce layers and bureaucracy. Improve professionalism - punctuality, respect, manners, humor. Improve avenues for promotions, especially for knowledge experts that are valued by customers.

    Pros

Are you a warm body? You may fit in here.

Why is my rating not the same as the average? Adjust the rating based on who is doing the rating. For Indians, TCS is a dream job.

No stock program for TCS America.

    Cons

    Culture:
Why do something, when you can do nothing?
Why listen when you can decide everything and appropriate any leftovers as if they were your thoughts?

How about this. Let's eat dinner over the teleconference call. Chomp chomp squish splurt.

I worked at Tata Consultancy Services (North America) full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great exposure to various client situations, including different industries.

    Cons

Promises too much and then tries to deliver using all sorts of methods, including forcing the consultants into areas that do not match their expertise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee development and training needs to be emphasized and enforced. Haphazardly assigning projects cannot accomplish the best results. Promises to the client must be made based on the ability to deliver.

    Pros

Easy hire process, no layoffs, no fire.

    Cons

Was originally hired as software engineer, now working as ticket monkey. I do desktop support. After 4 years of college with computer science degree. They lie to you. They would offer you positions that people want to be hired as, with a not bad salary, but its a trap. They put you in whatever position they want

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
