International exposure, challenging work environment, decent compensation, extremely good workplace for someone who loves technology, opportunities to work across multiple industries
Cons
Pathetic work life balance, working environment is not so nice, very hierarchical and structured organization and promotion policies, current work environment does not foster innovation
Advice to Senior Management
current work environment does not foster innovation , please pay attention to improving work life balance and not just focus on earning more revenues
Pros
Very reputed, growing and stable company. TCS care for their employees.

no cons as such, pace of growth is limited when you work in big service providing companies.
Advice to Senior Management
..
Pros
Technology-Depth oriented projects are less but whatever are there are good
Architects are good and knowledgeable but cannot say the same about Managers
Good Onsite oppurtunities if stick for more than 2/3 years
Variety of projects
If you have good relations with Manager then things will be easy going
Cons
Work Life Balance is missing
The training at Trivandrum is NOTHING but PAID VACATION
Heavy Bureuacratic culture
Lots of politics for onsite oppurtunities
Advice to Senior Management
None (because they are well aware of what they are doing and how they need to change themselves)
Pros
1 - Huge organization provides stability even during economic downturn.
2 - Opportunity to work anywhere is the world as they have clients in almost every country.
3 - Ease of access to information within the company. All best practices are tabulated and available on Intranet.
4 - Strong community feeling.
Cons
1 - Difficult to stand out when the company is hiring 30K people every year. You feel you are replaceable.
2 - Promotions are usually based on your years of service than on quality of service.
3 - Tight financial goals force managers to bend backwards to please clients.
Advice to Senior Management
A regular interaction with employees at a lower level is very important. The current focus to retain employees is either a salary increase or an onsite placement, however if the company focus on customized career paths and is flexible to provide employees with different responsibilities more people can be retained.
Pros
- access to top clients
- excellent place to begin a career
- Direct rewards to work possible
Cons
- Mid Management is cut off from the world
- Managerial job training is minimum
-excessive focus on quantity over quality while hiring
-
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the middle. The young guys will work irrespective and older guys will stay around. But the core strength is in the mid level guys. And TCS is focussing more on short term rather than long term
Pros
1) Good Work-Personal life balance
2) Plenty of clients and technologies...hence ample opportunity for growth in desired field
3) Good HR Policies like Health Insurance Policy,Leave Policy,Travel Assistance Policy etc
4) Easy going work atmosphere
5) Enough onsite opportunity if one stays long enough.
6) Very good company for ladies in all respects
Cons
1) Biased and opaque appraisal policy
2) Very poor annual increments
3) Unequal distribution of workload...most just slack off while very few get all the job done.
4) Very difficult to get released from projects
5) Employee's skills and aspirations not taken into account at the time of allocation.
6) Very unprofessional and sarkari type attitude of middle managers
7) Transport facilities are not very good and a bit costly too.
Advice to Senior Management
Advice to RMG : Ask the employee what he wants before allocating...don't just force anything upon him
Advice to HR : Don't be a puppet in the hands of senior project managers
Pros
Great company ethics, and a secure job.
Cons
Company need to identify real people and treat them accordingly.
Pros
Good earning oppurtunities and you are not limited to only one domain or technology. You get to work on diffferent aspects of software development and fast growth path for high performers.
Cons
Compensation is at par with big Indian companies but is slightly lesser when compared to other small players. Perormance management becomes difficult as it decides a big part of your salary
Advice to Senior Management
need to review the process of getting th e non performer out. At time a few people just stay in the organization not contributing much. Firing is rare.
Pros
Place involving the best Work-Life balance. There can be considerable amount of growth for one here, though that is luck dependent.
Cons
The management doesn't provide justice to the employee. The compensation should be on a higher scale as present currently. Rest things are fine
Advice to Senior Management
Please try to be more competent in understanding satisfaction index for an employee, this eventually will calm down the attrition rate too.
