This place will help you in achieving amazing work life balance. Really good place for metallurgists and chemical engineers. Can grow to really great heights if you are at right place at right time.
Cons
Oraganization carries a big baggage of 100 year legacy. Typical manufacturing mindset. People are not really willing to share knowledge. More of establishment based so less importance is given to human resource utilization.
Advice to Senior Management
Need a drastic change of mind to clear the baggage of history. Need to build a performance based system. Need to weed out many wrong practices.
Pros
It is best suited for people who hail from in and around jamshedpur. It is a great company to work for management graduates and metallurgical engineers.
Cons
1. Tata Steel is almost 95% government type (sarkari) organization lacking a dynamic work environment.
2. The employee morale (officers) is probably the lowest in the industry.
3. It is the best place in the country (or perhaps even worldwide) for non-officer category workers.
5. Not a place for the young, energetic, dynamic and the talented.
6. Jamshedpur is an oasis which is literally cut off from rest of the world
7. No work done here is original. Almost all activities are carried out in "Jugaad" mode.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to chuck out the old and worn out employees who are actually pulling down morale of the young and the budding talent. The top management needs to be more dynamic in its compensation, promotion and reward policies to keep down talent attrition rates. The management needs to urgently do something to eradicate the "sarkari" type of work culture in Jamshedpur.
Pros
Employee friendly
Ethics follower
Leadership driven
Employee engagement
Training for employees
Cons
Huge competition in steel sector
Advice to Senior Management
Management should work to fight competition in sector.
Pros
Job experience and learning. You'll get enough opportunities to learn if it's free of cost.
Cons
No training whatsoever.
Poor Pay Package and no benefits considering most of the employees are native welsh, problem for outsiders who want to save money staying away from home.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more money otherwise you'll not be able to stop brain drain.
