I worked at Tata Steel full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The work culture is very good. Colleagues are helpful. The top management is very good and listens to employee issues and grievances. The non-currency perks are a lot. And if one is posted in jamshedpur, there are enough number of low cost company owned facilities that one may not get anywhere else such as -club memberships, sports facilities, gym etc. The company owned flats and bungalows in jamshedpur are also very comfortable to stay in.

    Cons

Low pay compared to other industries but definitely good compared to others in the manufacturing sector.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on improving pay structure to reduce attrition.

I have been working at Tata Steel full-time

    Pros

Tata Steel makes business excellence a priority through its in-house training programs and annual employee reviews that push for employee development. There are opportunities for advancement for those who excel at their positions or exhibit the ability to take added responsibilities.

    Cons

The company likes to run lean whenever possible, so employees that don't stand out in their abilities or performance are vulnerable to cost-cutting initiatives.

I worked at Tata Steel as an intern

    Pros

Very helpful and Creative seniors Takes care of new learners in the company. It is already the biggest steel industry in the country and has much greater potential

    Cons

It has a big baggage of 100 year legacy. most employees are diploma workers and needs more theoretical knowlodge. situated in small areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

should recruit better engineering employees in the upcomming kalinga nagar branch, mostly from NITs and IITs and should make a good system there

I worked at Tata Steel as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Tata Steel has an awesome work culture. The plant is very well organized and there is a very balanced work-life system.

    Cons

The work is challenging as the work which an employee does can affect the plant at large. Tata Steel is an institution that has assumed national importance. So the expectations and the responsibilities of the employees are very important.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improvement can be seen through upgradation of technology. For instance, I underwent a summer training in Telecommunications Department, Tata Steel. The telephone exchange is based on the AVAYA S8700 setup. But newer versions of this setup have come out. So, to make the communication experience even better, technology upgradation can be done.

I worked at Tata Steel as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I had a vocational training at Tata Steel. It is one of the best places to be at. It has an awesome work culture, efficiently organised into various departments and the services it provides are exceptional.

    Cons

Working there is not an easy job as it is a big institution and the work you do will affect the organization at large. Sometimes it can be a bit stressful too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The infrastructure in the plant is quite good but there is a scope for improvement. For instance, I was pursuing my training in the Telecommunication Department, Tata Stel, Jamshedpur. The telephone exchange has a setup of the AVAYA 8700. But newer versions of the AVAYA setup have come up. So, you can go for upgrading the AVAYA setup so that communication will become an even better experience for the people.
