I worked at Tata Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The talented individuals and people, all of my co-workers, were the best!

    Cons

The benefits, salary could have been better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The upper management was very hands-off. They stayed in their offices and crunched numbers all day and worked in a slew of spreadsheets and reports. They never cared to find out what was happening in the field or the overall engineering and sales climate.

    Pros

North American staff has a reputation as top-end consultants and engineers. Long history of excellence in CAD/CAM and PLM systems use, training, and deployments.

    Cons

Management is displacing North American staff as quickly as they can procure visas to bring Indian staff to the U.S. Higher cost "excellence" is being replaced with "low cost" competent. Hollowed out reputation will lead the company to being just another body shop before long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Live up to the promise of high-end consultants on site being backed up by low-cost delivery capability when that makes sense, not every time you can squeeze out another dollar.

I worked at Tata Technologies full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

People were good to work with, we always helped each other out in tight deadlines. At one time there was a lot of talent there to resource from to help you with your work. Decent vacation time given if worked out when getting hired.

    Cons

There is no yearly cost of living compensation, many of the talented have left, not any real opportunities to move up in unless on senior manager fast track.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to give people compensation for going extra mile. Need to hire more talented people to get large accounts.

I worked at Tata Technologies full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company had a hands off approach, ie, they assumed that if they didn't hear anything about about you, you must be doing ok

    Cons

    - No performance review in my last eight years of employment
    - They only ever contacted me when they needed something
    - They were never slow to tell you how great a time the upper management were having on their various team building trips/ seminars, etc
    - I always felt like a line on a spreadsheet and as soon as that line went red, I would be gone
    - No training opportunities
    - Felt like they always stressed the need to retain new employees and didn't really care about long term employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Care about your employees before you lose them
    - Remember which employees generate income and which are overhead.
