    Solid, but unspectacular Internship

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at Taxware

    Pros

Its a paid internship (fairly well paid as far as those go), so thats a plus. I had some flexibility in hours, and people were generally nice over there. I also had some interesting assignments while working under product managers.

    Cons

I had some really dumb assignments as well. Lot of cold calling, when I was told during interview that is exactly what I wouldn't be doing. They weren't honest with me at some points, also seemed to be confused as to what to use me for at times. Plus, the intern development program thats mandatory really is a waste of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Intern development program is really tedious and I'm not sure what can be gained with that. Id say cut it.

    I worked at Taxware

    Pros

    My coworkers were nice people.

    Cons

    Very below-average salaries.
High turnover, and little domain knowledge at the company.
Much time is spent researching project requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-evaluate compensation plan. Domain knowledge is critical, so seek to hold on to high-performers at the company.

Fun office atmosphere with lots of young people

    Cons

I worked at Taxware full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nice folks to work with. Decent health and 401K benefits.

    Cons

The management seems to be driven by the latest management fads and trends they have read in the latest management books. The product development group works in an 'open office' environment. The claim by management is that this is supposed to encourage 'collaboration' -- I can assure that it does not encourage collaboration any more than a work environment with cubicles and private offices. The noise level is intolerable. Distractions galore. Not to mention no privacy. There are also these oppressive 90-day reviews that attempt to scare the bejeezus out of you by threatening termination if you don't become a more god-like creature by the time the next 90-day review comes around. The company tries to act and behave like a startup, but as a spin-off from ADP, there's quite a bit of the big-company ADP culture still lurking around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get with the times. Show some flexibility. This is the 21-st century. The onsite work requirement is counter-productive and destructive.Consider getting rid of the ADP holdovers who are still stuck in their ways.

I have been working at Taxware full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - After you get in this company is whatever you want it to be, they go strictly on the entrance test
    - You can hide and do nothing, because everyone is new here and clueless
    - You can be a go getter, but if you do, expect to put in 60 to 80 hour weeks
    - If you shut up and do what you are told then you'll be fine, otherwise don't rock the boat
    - HR assigned to write good 5 star reviews, to lure unfortunate next victims
    - From what I hear this company use to be awesome, now its underachieving after acquisition

    Cons

    - Pay is pitiful, if you are manager you get paid very well, if you are not, you are 25% below market
    - No direction, we don't know how things work now, and we don't know what to build next
    - In fact, nobody here knows anything about anything except maybe 2 or 3 people
    - No experts, people who claim they are experts are just as lost as everyone else
    - Everyone here is clueless because everyone is new, people don't last they leave after 1 year
    - Turnover is very high, at least 2 people in a 130 person company leaves every week
    - Employee here seem to hate Management, but mostly like each other
    - I can sense more people leaving in droves in the coming new year

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay up or see more people leave fairly easily.

I have been working at Taxware full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I can tell you that 99% of the negative reviews are from the Product Development department, which has had a lot of changes. But the company as a whole is a great place with a lot of opportunity to learn new things and be given a lot of responsibility. It is a merit based company so you are rewarded for your work rather than your tenure. Things are very fast paced and there is always something new going on. The culture of the company is beginning to emerge and is becoming a fun place to work.

    Cons

    -The pay isn't competitive
-The CEO doesn't seem to care much about the employees (luckily the CFO does)

    Disapproves of CEO
