Pros
It is a Great place to work.
Cons
Few downsides....limited opportunities to advance in salary
Advice to Senior Management
More opportunity for promotion and salary increase
Pros
flexibility and follow the ford vacations which is quite a lot
Cons
too much politicis, no growth and respect from upper management.
Do not communicate the changes in the department
Advice to Senior Management
be fair to all, and communicate honestly.
Pros
Good people, great potential. The "opportunity" to do and be a part of something great is always shimmering under the surface. Lots of opportunity to gain experience in all channels and aspects of marketing and advertising on a large, stable account.
Cons
Politics dictates too many decisions rather than smart work. If it makes money and we can bill for it it will go out the door. Multiple teams not clearly knowing what other partner teams' true function is and also a poor training program. Its just a consequence of the size of the agency that I'm hoping they will grow out of with more time.
Advice to Senior Management
The left does not know what the right is doing and in multiple situations anyone can be called on to act as account. Eventually the luck may run out
Pros
Great opportunities to work with excellent clients and accounts. Outstanding culture.
Cons
No raises or bonuses. People have worked here for 5+ years without a raise, even for cost of living adjustment. Only a select few or certain "cliques" of people get recognition for good work. Promotions are given to those who don't deserve them. There is a very large pay difference between those who actually do the work and those who sit in offices.
Pros
exceptional work/life balance
great culture
fun environment
creative
very confident the company is headed in a positive direction
Cons
HR is slow. The Career Track program is aimed to help in professional growth and development but it's pointless when management doesn't give it much of a priority. There aren't any checks and balances in place. If you are not happy with your job, by the time anyone notices chances are you'll be gone. Seems like the only way to move up in the company is leave for a better position and then come back with more negotiating power. Unbelievable how many people take this approach.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more proactive regarding the morale of your employees and know the success of your team is highly dependent on employee morale. If we are happy, it only makes you look better as a manager.
Pros
Excellent client (Ford) is very supportive of agency, job security, coffeehouse and cafeteria on-site (people complain but they are ungrateful -- it is very convenient), exercise classes, Summer Fridays, on-site parking, pool tables, casual work environment, not very long hours for an ad agency.
Cons
Horrendous cubes, overcrowded and loud, weak management, arrogant management (blatantly talk about getting massages, golfing, hitting the country club, etc. in front of those who are actually working), people who worked at various agencies before they merged as Team Detroit have an inordinate amount of PTO that they have no qualms about taking at the expense of their departments, colleagues and client, lots of overpaid, useless upper managers who do absolutely nothing but demoralize and play politics, politics trump talent, raises are given only when people threaten to leave and go to another agency and often eat up the budget so loyal employees are not rewarded, no women in creative leadership positions, no minorities in creative leadership positions, account people get treated much better than any other position, filthy bathrooms, well known that the only way to get a raise is to leave and come back, cannot express interest in transferring to another department without asking your manager (and thereby jeopardizing your existing job), if you do get to work in another group, HR will not give you a raise, they will insist it is a "lateral movement," HR plays favorites and is too friendly with some people leaving others to feel alienated, very corporate, no laughter, no fun, doesn't feel like working at an ad agency at all, little if any chance to work on integrated campaigns (e.g. if you work in digital, you'll never have the chance to do a TV spot -- ever).
Advice to Senior Management
Get off your high horse and lead by example, recognize and reward the talent that is working so incredibly hard for you, stop bragging about how much money you make in front of others.
Pros
Grate place to learn the business
Cons
its an assembly line and there is no thinking outside of that.
Advice to Senior Management
you have a good model, but that model does not apply to everything.
Pros
According to Advertising Age, TDI is among the top ten advertising agencies in North America. TDI has plenty of smart and talented people across several disciplines, and a strong relationship with Ford Motor Company, a very good client. TDI offers good benefits, and will often host live musical shows in the building with sometimes well-known bands. In recent years, TDI has also increased their non-Ford client roster. TDI is a stable employer in a very unstable market.
Cons
Years can go between performance reviews and raises, and many times an outside offer is needed to get any raise. TDI has been known to underpay rising stars which often motivates them to leave the agency for further advancement. Those that are left behind may be given a "promotion" with more responsibilities and a bigger title even though they may lack experience and skills, and it's unlikely they will get proper training, much less money.
Pros
great clients, great products, and great peers
Cons
poor technology and poor leadership
Advice to Senior Management
go back to school and welcome to the 2000s
Pros
Relaxed work culture
Initiatives from its vendors are good
Very friendly atmosphere
Small teams to work with
In the motor city
Cons
Technologies used are pretty old like lotus notes for emailing...come on
Cafeteria could be diverse ( Blame only during the winter)
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it coming / going with parties.
Probably upgrade the technology and tools used internally
Better cubicles would be appreciated
