    I worked at Teavana

    Pros

Pay, benefits, 401K, easy to move up.

    Cons

Only easy to move up because so much turnover. Must follow sales process to the letter or you'll get scolded. People often called out in front of customers to push another tea or item.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train people to maximize sales without being pushy. I never followed their guidelines, and was one of the highest selling members in the states. Show customers things they say they need, and maybe they'll come back.

I worked at Teavana part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I was a team lead and worked there for 3 years. The free drinks and discount were honestly the only pros.

    Cons

Pay is pathetic, even when promoted to management. Impossible to live off of even with 2 roommates at home. The pressure would be manageable otherwise, but still difficult. Sales goals are ridiculous, and upper management is a joke, with constant turnover and no real authority structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Like a previous reviewer said, lighten up. Don't dangle employee's hours over their heads like table scraps, and respect the cost of living in this country when you ask for a person's heart and soul.

I have been working at Teavana part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Since Starbucks owns us we get a few awesome benefits and free cups of tea. Who doesn't love free cups of tea??

    Cons

Unorganized. Poor pay. Unfortunately it's a very stressful, cutthroat environment. A lot is expected out of a single employee as far as different sales goals and MANY merchandise goals. Also management has a tendency to steal sales from their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lay back a little bit. I'm glad you have high expectations but yours are a little ridiculous especially for how unorganized the company is. Also, the management in your stores are poor trainers and steal sales like no other. I believe management does so poorly because so much is expected out of them too and too much focusing on paper work and conference calls rather than getting the stores sales they actually worked for.

    I worked at Teavana

    Pros

Fun environment, free tea, lots of learning!

    Cons

This was before Starbucks took over, but the push to sell tea was too much. It ended up making everyone in my store fight and hate each other. Friendly sales competition turned nasty due to pressures put on by district managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on Customer Service than selling like a bad car saleman.

I worked at Teavana part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Product is good quality, employee discount, free drinks while on the clock.

    Cons

Co-workers trying to take over your sales (especially management), HUGE book of scripts with no room for individualization, scripts see customers as all cookie cutter when thats not how reality is, high pressure sales which make customers uncomfortable. Unless you work in a very busy store, its highly unlikely you'll hit your sales goal and actually get a bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to take credit for your employee's sales just to make your own sales goal. Stop playing favorites for scheduling purposes.
