    Pros

Free tea on shift, starbucks markouts, fun work environment. The staff is really great.

    Cons

There can be some favoritism. Hours based on sales performance but usually short shifts and few days.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your team and promote from within.

    Pros

Teavana relies heavily on metrics- average daily ticket, sales per hour, etc. they reward the better performers and coach the less effective people.

    Cons

Getting a holiday off is very difficult. Expect to work every Saturday, and during days most people want to socialize (after Thanksgiving weekend, memorial day, mothere's day, 4th of July)

    Advice to Management

make sure you're training people constantly. Training is like oil changes- you don't think you need to until you go without for too long, and then you have a mess

    Pros

    - I was lucky enough to end up working with a great team! Most of them I consider my friends. - Supportive management. - Flexible with schedule. - Free drinks of tea on shift!

    Cons

    - Slow to work your way up. Don't expect to be promoted any time soon unless you are amazing at sales. Even then, some people wait around forever to be promoted to anything above a Team Lead. - Awful communication! Have to be on your feet and ready to switch up your script a bit due to slow communication from management. - Not nearly enough to make a living with the amount of work you do.

    Pros

It's fun. Playing with the teas and really learning how to sell. Most of the managers are really good exspecially as retail coaches. The 30% discount and 1lb coffee mark-out at Starbucks is really the icing on the cake. Also the Starbuckpartnerdiscounts.com website for various store, movies, computers (including apple), cell phone (with every carrier) resturaunt discounts is pretty awesome too. Getting eligibility for 401k match (6%) and healthcare, plus free online college, for averag less then 20 hours a week is cool too.

    Cons

The cons: you're literally competing for hours based on how well you sell. Its hard too because you commission check is actually a bonus check requiring you to sell at a certain dollar average rate per hour ever 30 days. The amount you need to sell is based on 3 levels of stores with the highest tier (top 20) requiring $77.5 per hour to see any of your check. If you do manage to at least hit that "golden amount" then you'll get 2% of the value of everything you sell at the end of the month. Its like an extra paycheck. If you're below at all you get nothing. They're really big on sales as the managers get 5% kickbacks on store if it makes goal for the month but the General Manger looses money out of her paycheck (up to 5%) and doesnt get bonus if they go over on payroll so they're pretty strict about it. I averaged $110 dollars last month and $124 at my best non-holiday month so I no you can do it too. Even though I did it at Tysons Corner a top 5 store.

    Advice to Management

Train your baristas well for those drinks are crucial for all of the business. Teach them the ways of the old teava: shape up blend, detox blend, sleepy time blend. Also please be a tea drinker for it always helps when you be passionate in your product. Lastly, when you hire someone don't think about how well they can sell but focus on how well they can work with your team. Just because they interview well doesn't mean you need to ruin the eb and flow of your entire team. I was spoiled at my store as we did not have a backroom so we had a full-time stock person as well. It was like we were pros just needing to focus on the game, cause all we had to do was sell. No stocking, no brewing. Its amazing. Also I met the legendary Dinesh S. He's as good as it says he is. That man can sell water to fish ($160/hr) he's amazing to watch and he really tought me alot. I was always right behind him in my store (#2 in store sales). Well, enjoy your health and happiness oolong =-)

    Pros

Awesome discount on teas Learn a lot about tea types and brewing

    Cons

Pushy about sales Required to be too forward- annoying to many customers

    Advice to Management

Focus more on guest satisfaction to ensure clientele returns and referrals. Don't be so pushy about up-selling, and more people will enjoy visiting the store, not avoiding it.

    Pros

    Great product, clientele, and benefits.

    Cons

Sales goals! Unfortunately many people were not able to hit their goals consistently enough to receive bonuses. Upper management was very ineffective, depending on the store.

    Advice to Management

Have a more positive attitude towards coaching.
