    Sinking ship

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsMany hardworking employees, sadly with little direction.

    ConsMany lazy, demoralized, toxic employees.

    No strategy from upper management.

    Prototypical over-promise, under-deliver organization.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Unappreciated

    Assistant Account Manager (Current Employee)
    Ontario, CA

ProsSo far the only pros I've encountered are the free swag you get from a studio and the satisfaction of stating you sort of work in the film industry.

ConsThis department used to be fantastic, but any form of morale boosters have been discontinued. Upper management is needlessly secretive and awkward, and act without any regard to their employees.

ProsGood pay and benefits the entire time I was there. Full time mostly except during the slow season.

ConsDying business. The world is going digital and they haven't found enough alternate business to sustain them long term. Supervisors need better people skills.

Great experience working in digital cinema

    Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Burbank, CA

    ProsGreat agile software development environment
Technical freedom to develop solid applications
    Huge support from senior management

ConsWork life balance can be difficult
Business still tends to be reactive vs. proactive

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement has greatly improved over the last few years. The business is making excellent strides to improve department communication and to create a process to facilitate strategic technical advancements.

ProsCan't think of any at the moment

ConsMgmt. Doesn't take care of hard working / motivated individuals.
Glendale facility isn't a good place to be. Period.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring up moral... ASAP!

    Digital media technician

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Glendale, CA

ProsNice having all the preset for most of the equipment. The instruction and workflow for encoding and transcoding is very well label.

ConsMost people are hire as temp with no benefits. Most workers are not offered permanent positions. The older workers are extremely dissatisfied at work.

Painful intertia to overcome made any productivity or promise of success lackluster and elusive.

    Senior Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Burbank, CA

ProsPrestigious company, film-industry luminary, legacy of Thomas Edison (through former parent-company Thomson).

ConsDaily Dilbert-like management scenarios, never-ending meetings with little to no gain, crushing bureaucracy, mind-numbing dedication to mediocrity and the norm rather than allowing innovators to flourish. Probably different in other areas of the organization, but in IT and CTO-office, this was the case.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet your people do what you hired them to do, trust them to do it well, and reward for it (at the very least by allowing their work to be seen).

    Do not work here.

    Human Resources Director (Former Employee)
    Hollywood, CA

    ProsBonus program, Benefits, global company

ConsVery poor management, unethical leaders, inability to make money and sr. leaders continue to get bonuses while employees are layed off on almost a daily basis. Employees are treated very poorly, and it is common to hear the Paris leadership team verbally state that 'anyone age 40 and over cannot be considered as hi potential'.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange the culture and start over with a new leadership team (including HR) so you can attract & retain good people. You need to spend money to make money.

Hard to see why anyone can trust Management

    Tech (Current Employee)
    Hollywood, CA

ProsPrimarily one location to work from, friendly co-workers for most part, nice location and new building to work in

ConsConstant back stabbing by upper management, very low pay, hardly any review of your work, "no reason to comment on work unless it's done wrong or badly", demotions and lack of promotion, constant restructuring, no organization, non-competitive, new rules about how fast you can be promoted (1 yr min.), Cronyism, poor communication, crazy turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementMean what you say and do, promote people within the company instead of hiring outside help, do yearly reviews, give yearly raises to low hourly positions
