I have been working at Technipower full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent opportunity to excel financially and professionally through hard, focused, work.
Great team environment where upper management truly cares about there employees.
    Very little micromanagement after training.
TechniPower is/has been growing rapidly the past few years, creating new opportunities/responsibilities for employees that are willing to take them up on the challenge and move themselves forward in their career.

    Cons

Base salary is on the lower side, yet the commission structure is excellent.
Not for someone that is hesitant on the phone.
A lot of information to absorb at the start, though the learning curve is shortened by personable and knowledgeable managers.

    Pros

The owner & management are genuinely good people personally. Its a good place to learn how to do old school style recruiting and its fundamentals. Titles are thrown out rather easily, so its a good place to build a nice title on a resume before leaving.

    Cons

The biggest problem is an identity issue. Do you like high sales numbers, or are you just happy as long as everything is done by the books, regardless of sales numbers? Sales positions either have a decent base or a decent commission. TPI has neither... It does make sense to start off low and make someone prove themselves, but this is not the case. A meager starting base/commission is never improved upon once you do prove yourself. Their version of reward is to make someone a "Branch Manager", which results in a very small pay increase. Thats the ceiling, theres no going higher than that. This creates a system where the ones who are rewarded are the types who are just hungry for a title or status, instead of money and production. Thinking "outside the box" is viewed as an assault on their "old school" ways, and its clear by the advancement of those who follow the system exactly as told (AKA brown nosing). Other than that, as someone else mentioned, its obvious that the owner really likes to hear himself talk. You will certainly hear plenty of stories about how they were slaying business up and down in the 80's when there was maybe one or two other competitors. You will also hear how "phones got us to this point", while completely ignoring the small invention of the internet, social media, and emails.

    Pros

The top-level management is extremely knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about its employees. Can be a very rewarding career if you are not short-sighted, and willing to work hard. Company has a very friendly culture and engages in many extra-curricular activities, and charity functions.

    Cons

The starting base may be low for some, but is more than made up for with an excellent commision plan. This place is for aggressive salespeople not afraid to get after it, and not for people complacent with a cushy base.

I worked at Technipower full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Owner knows his stuff
Management is caring and is decent

    Cons

Pay is not good and is not consistent
    insurance is not good
Constantly chasing the next deal in order to make ends meet; otherwise, you are broke
Owner talks way too much and he's still living in the glory days...talks so much that you think he's just talking to hear himself talk
Despite doing well consistently, if you're not producing currently, your head will be on the chopping block.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit hiring recent college grads and bartenders and hire more people with experience; it gives the place an idea that this is a high turnover position...which it is. If you hire people w/ experience, it may put an end to the very high turnover rate.

I have been working at Technipower full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Its a good place to START OFF in the staffing industry. You will certainly learn how to cold call clients and become aggressive in order to compete with competition in your territory. They are also expanding thier office and adding several associates.

    Cons

You will be placed in a territory several hundred miles away from Roswell, Ga and never see your clients/candidates. The company is small and there is no structure there. The base pay ($26,000) is well below the local industry average, so don't expect to start really making money for at least 6 mo to a year. For the most part, the employees there are immature and unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ITS CHEAPER TO RETAIN YOUR GOOD CLIENTS THAN TO "dominate and develop daily". You are about to take on twice your overhead that will mainly consist of recent college grads or bartenders/servers that won't have a clue what they are doing for a long time... good luck with that. Also, stop promoting everyone out of your top markets and expect tham to excel in new markets... I've never heard of a 50 person company that has 25 managers.

    I worked at Technipower

    Pros

Earning potential unlimited , senior management is supportive and has good cop/bad cop style of leading that motivates you while keeping you focused. Middle Management is great depending on the territory.

    Cons

Middle Management sends conflicting training lessons, this career requires you to know everything about all types of occupations, the software, their skill sets, what they do, and under what circumstances they would use them. To young people who are not as knowledgeable in the various industries you are calling on be prepared for a steep learning curve. Some managers are great salespeople, but terrible managers at cultivating talent and promoting confidence in the younger inexperienced sales force.
