I worked at Ted Jacob Engineering Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Team work, especially graduates from Cal Poly Technical College and UC Berkeley that work in Mechanical, here are on the ball and true team players. They lay out exactly what they want and are very detail oriented.
Flexible hours for people with tough real life schedules.
Working here gets your foot in the door to whichever industry you are planning on going into.
Good and clear values stated in the new hiring packet and this information is very easy to re-obtain at any time during working hours from the HR department.
The boss at this business is highly professional and has the best work ethic. He lives to achieve big goals with this company and to expand the business globally.

    Cons

Sometimes really large projects have deadlines that need to be met due to contractual obligation that can require workers to stay long hours. While this is rare, it can happen but workers do get compensated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making things interesting for workers that travel to the job site, they really enjoy going out and working on projects on-site and bringing back new information for projects and for the business.

    Pros

Competitive compensation packages, great working environment, and experience with world class projects. I have been with TJEG for a number of years and I plan to stay with the firm for a while. I have worked with many other companies and I can't see myself going back.

    Cons

None to mention at this time.

I have been working at Ted Jacob Engineering Group

    Pros

    Concentrates on healthcare. Nothing else.

    Cons

Owner is always gone. Egotistical principals run the place. Lots of finger pointing amongst principals. All principals hate one another so you get caught up in there fire. Extremely low salaries relative to other firms. Get ready to be stressed out if you coming here. Everyone outside of the principals is treated like crap. The company does not harbor growth and employee development. Horrible attitudes. It's it not worth it. Try working at ARUP, Mazzetti or Flack & Kurtz. The company environment is horrible and it is a disgusting example of how a company should be run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Retire.

It is a good place to start your career but many do not end up staying there too long.

I have been working at Ted Jacob Engineering Group

    Pros

There are many opportunities to travel and to gain a considerable amount of experience. Also, you are never working on the same project for too long.

    Cons

Management seems to not be so great. At times there is a lot of politics and simply unnecessary B.S. that goes on.
