Former Employee – worked at Telcordia full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Work with great, talented people. Diversity among work opportunity across software, IT, business operations consulting, systems integration, operations support systems, business support systems, telecom business & operations processes.
Cons – Year over year decline in top line w/ limited strategic direction for growth. negative and continuously declining morale due to annual layoffs, limited opportunities for career advancement, and limited investment in new, growth areas
Advice to Senior Management – balance short term tactical business performance with long term strategic direction, organizational re-structuring to provide mix of "old blood" and "new blood" to leverage expertise and heritage along with evolution and advancements in technology, approach, organizational reinvigoration

Former Employee – worked at Telcordia full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Good Compensation. Benefits were good, and some of the management cares. They seemed to have a lot of family days, and a cafeteria is onsite.
Cons – Constant turmoil, more than 1/3 of the company had been there for 30 years or longer. Didn't want to change - living the old Bellcore mentality. Some very bright people, but no leadership or accountability. I told one of my employees that we were laying off in our department (we did have to cut back in our group and he was a sub-par performer), he immediately found a position in another group not facing cuts- people are constantly hanging around in the company regardless of performance.
Advice to Senior Management – Resign. You squabble publicly amongst employees and have no vision- Ericsson will have a challenge getting you aligned.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Telcordia
Pros – Technical folks and support folks are top notch. Lot's of depth and experience.
Strong customer oriented culture
High quality focus
Great pay when I started
Cons – Very limited in software orientation - legacy systems, landline
Very slow to embrace wireless
Technical folks need to do sales - not sure what the sales team really does
Company is 1/3 of former size, so advancement is nil
Average age of employees is rather old
Very finance oriented
Advice to Senior Management – Be a bit more agressive in looking at new opportunities. Take a longer view. Focus more on technical and delivery, not just financials.

Current Employee – been working at Telcordia
Pros – learn from Telcordia's expertise, good salaries, some interesting projects to work on, flexible on life issues, supports telecommuting, good human quality
Cons – so so benefits, not much opportunities for career advancement, may be difficult to make a career move or change, there is not much faith on new talent, very difficult to bring new ideas to the table
Advice to Senior Management – instill more innovation, foster career moves and challenges, allow younger talent to develop, introduce better benefit packages

Current Employee – been working at Telcordia
Pros – Telcordia has a smart bunch of people working there. My Coworkers are very kind.
Cons – Management doesn't REALLY know what's going on. They don't take the time to find out. There are too many meetings. People should spend more time doing the work. Meetings do not end with action items and follow-ups... they are non-productive.
Advice to Senior Management – Reward people for the work they do or they will leave.

Current Employee – been working at Telcordia
Pros – The work is challenging and the people are great to work with. There is close cooperation within groups and between groups in the same business unit.
Cons – The company has pared back the number of employees to bare bones minimum over the recession years. There are not enough people to do the job and everyone works long hours
Advice to Senior Management – Spend more time with senior managers in our customer companies to built relationships and bring in more business.

Pros – Great people to work with, interesting assignments and the ability to move to new projects and assignments and a generally supportive work environment with decent, but not great benefits.
Cons – Senior management was constantly changing and the direction of the company was changing along with the slump in tradition telecom and the always uncertain future and constant staff downsizing.
