    Pros

TBE was good for getting a start in my career, I guess.

    Cons

Management thought that their opinions were the only ones that mattered. Lots of terrible ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are probably smarter than you. Listen to them.

I have been working at Teledyne Brown Engineering full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is generally a high level of competence at all levels from the technical staff to management.
Employees are respected by the company and the work life balance is good.

    Cons

Management is somewhat stove-piped and fragmented so your experience can vary drastically from division to division or director to director.

I worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Teledyne Brown is a great place to work. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the environment is still productive. Everyone came from different walks of life with different college degrees and experience, which made for a wide array of different personalities. Yet somehow, everyone had a way of meshing seamlessly with each other.

    Cons

As an intern in the IT department, my focus was on all computer related upkeep. Anything from software updates to inventory and troubleshooting. At the time I was working there, I noticed there was a strong reliance on older software and equipment. By time my internship was ending, I did see that the company was making strides to address that issue.

I worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A long established engineering company with challenging projects.

    Cons

The integrated logistics unit is all hat and no cattle. As with most companies in the area, the concentration of skills is for US Army work and ill suited for other services. The company is not a skilled DoD contractor. The leadership is poor and self-absorbed tending to ignore the day to day work in areas that require competent guidance and informative feedback.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on NASA projects and away from military work where there is an emphasis on product lifecycle support for repeated missions.

I worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The ability to telecommute and the customer, my team, and our customer are the main reasons I stayed here for almost 10 years working the same contract.

    Cons

Once project ended I ended with TBE, company has no loyalty once your contract is gone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually try harder to place employees who were displaced by a lost contract. Don't just pay lip service to finding another spot for those displaced by a lost contract.

  10.

Company as a whole is OK. They need to show their employee appreciation better.

I worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a cafeteria and a (small) gym on campus. The pay is decent. The management coordinates activities and events for employees and their families.

    Cons

Lower pay than many other companies in town. I don't know what this says about me, but they tend to higher lower quality people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on providing more competitive pay rates.

Former Employee - Analyst in Huntsville, AL

I worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Fairly consistent in the amount of contracts they win, and were competing all the time for various types of contracts.

    Cons

Layoffs were bad in there was not any offers for early retirements or much to address the financial side of layoffs/retirements. Once you retire they don't want to see you there and you aren't welcome on their property of have any access to the fitness center or anything else. It's like other than receiving a check monthly, you never existed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't drop and forget your retirees because we helped make you who you are!
