    Pros

If you are liberal and want to make a little money while contributing to causes you believe in, this job is for you. This job will fire you up and better inform you about women's rights, gay rights, and the environment. Fun co-workers. Set your own schedule. If you have to be a telemarketer at least it's for a worthy cause.

    Cons

Telemarketing. It can be tough. You can be yelled at, or feel like you are exploiting the elderly who have a fixed income, but big hearts and want to help everybody. I made less because I didn't want to push that hard, but that was my choice.

    Pros

I love to help progressive organizations to raise the money needed to keep doing the work they do. You talk to many like minded people.

    Cons

Not having consistent work load, no change in pay structure. Send homes for lack of performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to your staff and get more work.

    I worked at Telefund

    Pros

Flexible Hours. Other than that, there are non.

    Cons

-The people are either drug addicts, prostitutes, or some sort of swindler
    -Management sucks
-no possible way to move up
    -no benefits
-limited numbers of campaigns to call
    -the place smells
I worked in the Boston office, so we were close to "Corporate" on the same floor. The entire structure is filled with incompetent people. The "Corporate" HQ was filled with 20 somethings who made 20 something thousand a year and worked long hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shut the company down. I wish that I could give less than one star. Perhaps even a negative star. Horrible place to work.

Former Employee - Call Taker in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Telefund part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I applied via email and received a call two days after. An interview was scheduled. I was invited to come back for a trial run at the end of the interview. Two days later I showed up filled out paperwork and was trained for two hours on the phones, given a script and let loose. I didn't make it through the full week of training, my numbers were not high enough. Casual dress work environment.

    Cons

Each trainer was different in delivering scripts and taking pledges. Calls were back-to-back as expected. The office culture while fast paced was doable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give people a little extra time to get scripts down and be more understanding that not every call taken will result in a pledge or instant credit card commitment. The closer it gets to elections means donors are burned out .

I worked at Telefund full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Can't think of any. It is a terrible place.

    Cons

Disgusting workspace. Giant dirty office. Unsanitary. I'm talking about the office on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles.

You are under constant threat of being fired. If your donations dip below a certain percentage, you're out. No warning, just out.

You are encouraged to be dishonest and to badger people over the phone for money. If Obama for America knew the tactics they use on their employees, they would never use them to fund raise. They treat their callers like dirt. They made you clock out to use the bathroom for 3 minutes or grab a drink of water. Borderline evil.

Most of the managers there are awful because they have to be. If their shift doesn't make enough money, they get blamed, so they badger you into bulling people on the phone to give money.

Many people who work there are desperate and appear to be homeless.

    The office smells.

The management plays mindgames with the employees.

I heavily suspect that any positive reviews here were written by the management to negate the truthful reviews.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Disband this evil company.

I worked at Telefund part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There are none. Unless you like working with hookers, crackheads, and drug dealers. Women co-workers offering oral sex on payday.

    Cons

No opportunity for personal growth. I applied to be promoted multiple times because I was a lot smarter than my bosses. There are no benefits and the company does what ever they can to keep you part time and the pay sucks-- which lends itself to underemployment.

The callers know nothing about the issues for which they are calling. And the place is dirty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Close the place down or fire all corporate leadership and mid level managers.

I worked at Telefund part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They have flexible hours, which was great for a college student. There was a little room for growth to become manager in a year or so with a slight pay raise. Laid back office culture.

    Cons

Low paying, with few incentives to work efficiently. The aim is always to follow the script and adhere to the rules, rather than actually building relations with the clients.
