I have been working at Telekom Malaysia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Like other GLC companies, very good for staff benefits such as medical and salaries

    Cons

i'm under project dealing directly under Government & Agencies directions which are challenging in terms of coping with the Govt. & other bodies regulatory. Thus impacting a lot on our jobs. Everything under Govt. controls. TM has the target to fulfill its obligations.

Besides, TM not really much kind to all staff. emphasive on the Management's benefits rather than the below level ie: salaries, promotions to upgrade current job, GM control the KPI % as well as who get higher pay for performance (bonus).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To treat all staff at all level accordingly without playing with sweet words and have justice & faith on all staff. Lead by examples is the best way to earn respect & passion from all staff.

I have been working at Telekom Malaysia part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good medical benefits, high annual leave, job security, work-life balance (for those in slow paced positions)

    Cons

no training given, too many non-performers, does not value high achievers (KPI exceed expectations) - increment just 1% higher than average employees (KPI meet expectations), no OT compensation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To improve on career development opportunities for high achievers, promote job rotations and provide more training.

I have been working at Telekom Malaysia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

stable, work life balance for some department, slow pace. Pay well for some people with less work. Good medical benefit for permanent staff join before 2013. More paid holidays compare to other company,

    Cons

Constant change of team name, management and structure. Salary below market value. HR slow response and incompetent. Office full of politics, more talk and less execution. Some Assistance GM don't even trust their own staff ability and outsource the work to other vendor even the solution given is the same. No clear career path, slow promotion. Will become less motivate after some time, work hard or less also pay the same, no stocks options, only make people work enough not to get fired. Most benefits is useless, like giving out free parking but the staff is far more than the free parking, house/car loan rate is no different from outside banks or even worst with less amount to loan for. Paid parking is expensive near Menara TM, food here also expensive, unhealthy and sucks. Traffic around here is very bad. New "Flexi" benefits for new staffs join after 2013 make the medical benefits worse. Do not invest in people, very little training given, apply for training is so hard, even need to pay for exam fee ourself. Culture is boring and need to be improve a lot. Toxic working environment for health, should organise other activity when celebrating rather than every time eating unhealthy food. 90% is Malay/Islam, they need to attract more different race to work here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in people, trust your staff. Company can survive cos is government related. Take this away, will get crush quickly by competitors.

I have been working at Telekom Malaysia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

a good learning ground, good benefits and security

    Cons

work politics, and favoritism. promotions used to be based on seniority, however now it is based on performance, but still need to look further into the promotion scheme

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

strengthen the hiring process and internal promotion interview process, there's always back-door to everything here. what's the use of promotion policy when you are able to get promotion in another way?
