    Pros

    Free food, fruits.
Most of the coworkers are helpful and understand their job quite well.
    HR become better and better.

    Cons

Someone who moved from China to U.S. brought some bad habit and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the high level manager could be easily fooled by such people.

    Advice to Management

    Go talk to more engineers.

    Pros

At this point, can't think of a single one.

    Cons

The culture has a lot of dysfunction with mini fiefdoms. Product Design wants to rule the world working on their own pet projects and building their portfolio. Marketing is now organizationally disconnected from everyone else. Senior leadership keeps changing strategy and it is not very clear where the company is headed. Communication and collaboration are at an all time low. There has been another round of layoffs. Good people are now keeping their heads down. This is sad because the Valley is an awesome place for great talent today.

    Advice to Management

You are putting some functional areas on a pedestal at the cost of other teams. Some teams that get the most visibility and resources are not held to the same goals and metrics as everyone else. They get all the benefits without having to put their necks on the line.

The company values were something that the founders and the organization believed in but lately it does not seem like you are being true to your values. The culture has visibly deteriorated over the past year from being collaborative to being very toxic. This tone is being set by your senior leadership in some teams.

    Pros

Decent benefits and had access to free food on a consistent basis which is great because there's no lunch places nearby.

    Cons

A lot of the management issues have been solved after I left but going through the IPO time was pretty turbulent.

  8. Good people, but management not willing to change and improve the process

    Pros

I met many very smart people while working there, lots of employee perks (bagels and donuts, morning fresh fruit, company sponsored lunches), great benefits.

    Cons

Their development process was broken, but management was unwilling to change the status quo. They felt that their process worked even though they had many deployment and quality issues. They laid off many folks who were working hard to make improvements to the Development process, because they were "rocking the boat"

    Advice to Management

Learn about modern development practices, the company could be great if only you would consider some process changes

    Pros

Awesome space, free food, lots of responsibility

    Cons

Bad hiring decisions (execs and senior leaders)
Lack of coherent strategy starting at Exec level
    Offshore teams
Favoritism towards newly hired leaders and execs
    Consensus driven
    Loudest voice wins
    Not egalitarian
Just laid off a whole office
Conflicting org structures lead teams to compete in a bad way

    Advice to Management

If you hire people, trust them and get out of their way. Stop micro-managing them.
Pick a strategy and stay the course - every new social networking and dating concept is not going to win
Promote people that deserve it - not the talkers
Leaders should not be remotely located. Move them to HQ
Hire people instead of overloading existing people
    Let bad performers go
    Invest in the right things

    Pros

Good hearted, hard working, nice colleagues.
    Lots free food.

    Cons

Complete lack of process. Empire building and continuous hiring by executives whose groups do not earn money for the company. Senior executives do nothing to end this- even developer can see. So much politicks by senior executives and other Senior execs don't know or too scared to do anything?

    Advice to Management

Why allowing groups that do not earn money for the company to grow? Don't be afraid to direct resources and hiring ONLY to groups that earn money or provide vital services for the company. Why you need a VP of HR and many people in HR when company is shrinking? When the company is losing money. why do Finance, facilities, consumer group and HR need so many employees?

    Pros

Good pay. Interesting technology. Co-workers are all very nice.

    Cons

Too much reliance on China teams - makes it hard to coordinate effort.

    Advice to Management

Less outsourcing, or outsource a entire component, instead of half China - half US for every team.
