Pros – Great place to work if you want to take responsibility for your own work and objectives. Great opportunities to work internationally and learn different perspectives/approaches.

Cons – A fragmented organization doing the same thing differently in different countries

Pros – To streamline, ramp up and industrialize products to the large customer base is a nice challenge.

Cons – TeliaSonera is really several companies in one, even if they are called business areas. With lots of internal politics and maneuvering going on. Most obvious is the rift in culture and focus between mobile business and fixed/broadband business. Currently ill informed IT decisions is common and downsizing is commonplace. IT is not seen as a core business, why it is a general practice to outsource everything IT except the legal ownership to external companies, which leads to hard to maintain self preserving IT systems that is hard to replace.

Advice to Senior Management – Merge business areas and make sure that core technical competence about IT is inhouse, telcos are really in the IT business nowadays.

Pros – Flexible working hours, versatile environment, possible to train & educated oneself

Cons – Salary, management model, no specific monitoring, slow processes

Advice to Senior Management – Use more time & energy to clarify the company mission, targets and expectations for the employees.

Cons – Long turn-around time, lack of agility

Pros – By being a big company on its home market TeliaSonera is in a position where it can define the market

Cons – Competition is hard in some business areas which has lead to price erosion and lower profitability level. TeliaSonera could use more its international resources to offer its customers unique services.

Cons – Downsizing & orgaisational Turbulence so often

Pros – Fourth largest infrastructure company in the world(three largest are american companies), chance to advance in company is encouraged and chances are good. Good chances to work internationally. Salary is also fair.

Cons – Managements behaviour towards staff is not so good, you often feel alone and helpless(not heard). Though international job opportunities are fairly good, the countries to choose from are pherhaps not the most exciting in the world(e.g baltic coutries).

Advice to Senior Management – Please take better care of your staff and try to listen to them. Spend some money on making the staff feel good instead of spending money on rectruiting and training new candidates constantly.
