    Pros

The Santa Clara team is an exceptional team with highly talented individuals, the likes of which are slim in the valley. Great set of employees to work with and what a fun filled and challenging environment. Loved my 8 yrs of "working" there. This i Say because of the people and the product.
    great
"Was" an ideal place to learn about the indust

    Cons

The single star review is because no matter how good a product or engineering team you have it really does not matter when you don't have a visionary running the company.
    - Started off by lack of vision with top management and that never changed even with multiple restructuring CEO changes
    - Then things got slimy with BoD getting greedy.
    - Sales team has no clue. Does not know how to sell a product.

    Advice to Management

Advice can only be given to people who are listening. Everyone including the management knows that they are preparing to shut it down. Anything else that is conveyed to employees or shareholders is sadly not the truth.

    Pros

    1. They are good in making fool by giving offer little above market

    Cons

    1. Extremely unstable company to work for. Be prepared for layoff after 2-3 weeks of hire
    2. Engineers are like thanksgiving turkey which may cut on or before thanksgiving
    3. After hiring they would make you work like anything. Very stressful work environment
    4. Management is big mess

    Advice to Management

    1. Wipe out all existing management including CEO. Bring new and mature management who do not believe in layoff concept and rather treat engineers with respect (Not like thanksgiving turkey)

    Cons

Company with headquaters in Naperville might not fully understand the bay area culture and support the employees to the full extent.

    Advice to Management

Be more agressive in invetigating a startup company's potential before acquring it.

    Pros

    - Some very competent Engineers and generally a good bunch of people to work with.
    - Good work / life balance.
    - Decent benefits / compensation.

    Cons

    - Company has no respect for Engineers.
    - Company is incapable of organic product development because they refuse to respect and retain talent. The only way they can innovate is to buy other companies.
    - Too many layers of management who are more concerned with reorganizing to protect their own jobs than doing what is right for the success of the company.
    - Management decisions are based upon politics and turf-wars between HQ in Naperville, IL and remote offices rather than what is best for the product or company as a whole.
    - Some very bad hiring decisions were made just to get people in the door. Resulted in incompetent or very inexperienced people working on critical projects.
    - Constant reorganizations and layoffs. More effort is put into reorganizing than how to produce a good product.
    - Poor decisions have put the company years behind the competition.
    - Sad story. Was a decent company until the current CEO took over. I was hoping they would continue to grow their Silicon Valley presence (like so many other companies) and become a growing force in the networking industry. Unfortunately they are reducing their presence in Silicon Valley, retreating to HQ, and making extremely poor decisions that will ultimately lead to their demise.

    Advice to Management

Replace the CEO and anyone reporting to him. The only way this old mid-Western company is going to compete in the networking industry is to clear out the incompetent management and get people in charge (preferably from Silicon Valley) who are willing to do the right things.
