Excellent place to work.

Business Analyst (Current Employee)
Melbourne (Australia)

I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than a year

ProsThere are great opportunities to move up and around the organisation.
There is a good work culture, with the workplace being inclusive and friendly.
There is lots of flexibility, in terms of work location and work hours.
The work is generally quite interesting and meaningful.

ConsThere is a holdover from the old days that manifests itself in the organisation having a bureaucratic nature. There are lots of approvals and process that can slow down the pace of work and hinder positive outcomes.
The organisation is sometimes slow-moving, because of its size and culture.
There is still a legacy of a public service mentality among some employees and in some processes.

Advice to Senior ManagementTransform, move away from the public service mentality to a private sector mentality.

A very rewarding experience where I had the privilege of working with many talented people

Area General Manager - Customer Strategy & Planning (Current Employee)
Melbourne (Australia)

I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThere is always change which creates opportunities if you are in the right place. There is an extraordinary mix of talented people that have come come from vary diverse backgrounds.
Having a role in sales operations creates many opportunities for personal growth and contribution to organisational improvement

ConsI believe that the changes that are implemented are not given enough time to be imbedded into the organisation and there is a lack of metrics to measure the change.
There are cultural pockets that are negative in the organisation. Job stability is questionable even if you are performing well.

Advice to Senior ManagementAlign everything that you do with organisational strategy and ensure this propagates all the way down through process and people.
