Temple-Inland had an incredible IT department, especially considering they were a manufacturing company.

    Desktop Architect Senior (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

    Pros-Super strong IT department
    -Good benefits including pension plan
-Able to control your own destiny
-Good mix between work and fun
-All my colleagues were really smart and wonderful people, many of whom I'm still friends with after leaving the company

ConsAt the end budgets got really tight. All meals, travel and training were cancelled. This of course was to attract buyers, which worked as the company was sold to International Paper. Also, the performance review for employees was dreadful and a complete waste of time. But I fear this is true of most companies this size.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone, this company no longer exists. It was absorbed by International Paper. Which was upper management's plan for several years. So good job, I guess?

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsCompetitive pay with current market conditions. A larger company but structured to be able to work with other operational teams to accomplish tasks.

ConsTemple Inland is no more as they have been bought out by International Paper. The structure within the workplace is changing.

The plant was very poorly operated.

    Temporary (Former Employee)
    Fenton, MO

ProsThe compensation was competitive. The company was closed on most holidays, and offered holiday pay if not.

ConsThe plant was poorly operated and the employees needs, and/or issues were never dealt with by management. Issues were never solved at the root of the problem, rather at the end of the process. Weekends were often required. The incorrect employees were blamed for problems/issues.

Great learning experience as audit intern

    Audit Intern (Former Employee)
    Austin, TX

ProsAll of my supervisors had open door policies and gave me a lot of great guidance. Most everyone is very friendly and makes you feel welcome right away. There a flexible work hours which promotes a good work-life balance. Pay is very fair and it seems there is a good track for advancement.

ConsTraining was good but more informal than I would have preferred. There is also a lot of talking behind people's backs, but that probably happens everywhere.
