I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Safe environment, decent pay, great benefits

    Cons

Management and supervisors are quick to come take a picture of something, email it it every supervisor in the plant, make a big deal out of something instead of talking to the operator and asking why they are doing something in a particular way (usually they have no idea why the operators are doing what caused them to take the picture)
Work floor is extremely loud, hearing protection is offered, but hearing loss will happen to anyone who spends multiple years on the production floor.
There is a definite need for an air filtration system, the heat treat process releases a red dust into the air which is easily inhaled by people on the floor. Sinus infections are unavoidable, and constant. I'm sure there are other health factors involved with the inhalation of the red dust as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate directly with employees instead of emailing

I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Nice workplace with good people that can teach you a lot. Challenging high impact work from the beginning. Great place to start. Good benefits.

    Cons

Management can sometimes be overly top down. Lots of frustrating norms and procedures that don't add much value. Salary a little on the light side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut out the excess reporting and automate the standard reporting. There is such a thing as too lean. When a 60 hour work week is the norm something isn't working.

I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You will learn a LOT. They give employees challenging assignments and projects from the start.

    Cons

Management is all from Argentina, Mexico, or Italy. Hardly ANY women in managerial roles. A lot of work but very few people to do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to adopt the US workplace culture, hire more people to help, be more transparent

I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good exposure and professional coworkers.
    Challenging jobs.

    Cons

People speak Spanish all the time, it is not an inclusive culture as they like to say.
Business are ran as the grandfather movie. All pass through one person (at the very top) and your future is determine by him.
At least 60 Hours a week. You will never hear a "Good Job"... it is really old school..."No news is good news".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Include more Americans in management positions, and stop running the business as the "Grandfather". That will allow people to have more work and life balance but Tenaris would lose the edge in the market... since they will need to hire more people and then be less "efficient".

I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great networking opportunities, lots of travel if work requires it, and company is constantly improving IT infrastructure, so it gives you good opportunity to learn. Sometimes up to 10% bonus can be achieved, in a perfect world.

    Cons

You are always over worked, and over whelmed with the amount of work. Plan on working at least 60+ hours every week, and spend lots of time away from family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tenaris is a revolving door, because you need to double up on staff. Constantly being over worked kills the motivation. 37% of USA staff was recently satisfied with pay, and more than 60% of staff's biggest problem was life/work balance... or the lack there of. Hire more people, and pay them properly... you can't work people to the bone ALL the time!

I worked at Tenaris full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Great work experience because of new projects and investments
-Pay is right at the middle of the scale
    -Benefits/401K is above average
-Great opportunities: 6 months all expense paid working in Mexico

    Cons

-Lots of OT (not much work/life balance)
-Hierarchy is strictly enforced due to the culture
-Hickman plant is located in a small town, not much to do after work
-Lack of right skills for the job which can cause lower than expected results
-Feel alienated when upper management or co-workers speak spanish in front of you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be able to take advise from subordinates, open up the idea of learning Spanish instead of forcing them, be respectful of work and life balance, need to listen more before giving directions.

I worked at Tenaris full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good structure in paper, global sourcing network and shared practices amongst the different regions. Training is well intended but takes many free time from family and recreational activities since you still need to do your overwhelming job

    Cons

Run like the Corleone family business... Take them (all employees, vendors) to the mattresses... Need to be "family to advance"... No matter how hard you try (to go home early n have a balanced life) they keep pulling you back in!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company has to respect and consider local culture in to the mix and prevent from ramming up Argentinitis up peoples behinds.
