Unless your from Argentina, Venezuela, or Mexico - Look elsewhere

Project Engineer (Current Employee) Houston, TX

    ProsPay is fair.
    TenarisUniversity is a world-class concept.

ConsIt is a highly discriminatory work environment. If you are not from a Latin American company, you are treated as a second-class citizen and have no voice, nor opinion.

Tenaris is new to the USA market and has a lot of opportunties for growth.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsThe growth potential is good if you are willing to work hard and be patient enough to take the time to learn the "Tenaris Way" before getting promoted to the next level. Tenaris is very particular about product and employee quality, so they are insistant on people learning how Tenaris does things as opposed to the way you have done your job elsewhere. They are open to new ideas, but it can be frustrating if you have not worked in a global company before.
If you are looking for integrity in a CEO, this is the place. Rocca is one of the few CEO's you can trust in todays market.

ConsThe global standards to process, manufacturing, etc can be frustrating because it can not translate to the local cultures well, making the work more buerocratic than it needs to be. The expected hours are long due to the South American work ethic. They have a lot to learn about Work/Life balance if they hope to retain good employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake work/life balace a requirment. Give the Regions more autonomy, reducing buerocracy.

Money is great! And that's it

    Finance (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsThe benefits were wonderful and the bonuses were great. That's about it. The company also seems to make sure to limit layoffs at Corporate and all Plants (for example, an underperforming Plant was able to have employees work at another Plant in other states at the Company's expense). Another good point is the Company's global position. Employees are able to really learn at the global level and take that experience to another company. Finally, after 18 months, employees can transfer into another role. However, if you want to move because you aren't happy, it's hard to get a Supervisor's blessing.

ConsGlobal company where most people have a heavy Argentinean accent and knows nothing about work/life balance. The company operates as if they are in Argentina, so the native employees work crazy hours (60+ hour weeks). In addition, it is hard to get your own schedule if you have outside things to do (picking up your kid, seeing your family before dinner time, etc). In Argentina, everyone starts work and ends work at the same time, so that is the expectation here in America. Another problem is that Tenaris has many chiefs and not enough Indians (no offense to anyone). You need like 5 signatures to buy an ink pen.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to offer your employees some balance; Research the way American businesses work.

Good opportunities in a company with outstanding growth for the last 18 years or so!

Sales Coordinator (Former Employee) Veracruz, Veracruz (Mexico)

ProsTenaris is a good place to learn how to work under different circumstances. You can build good long-lasting relationships with the very kind people from all over the world. You will also have the chance to travel all over and learn from those experiences. If you are a professional, you'll have an interesting carreer in Tenaris.

ConsCompensation is not that good. Some positions are reserved only for Argentinians.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone. The company is doing great with amazing growth for the last 18 years!

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a grip and give people who have vast years of experience an knowledge a chance to progress! If you don't it could be the downfall of a major business!!

Many opportunities but not caring about the employee

Project Engineer (Former Employee) Veracruz, Veracruz (Mexico)

ProsThis company provides a very challenging and demanding place to work.

ConsHard balance between home and work. The top management still thinks that a work life balance is a meaning of lack of responsabilities. Low salaries in comparison with other oil and manufacturing industries.

Stay away If you are not Argentinean.

    Sales Coordinator (Current Employee)

ProsGood place to learn and work as GT, analyst or coordinator.

ConsIf you are not Argentinean, you will stay in your position for ages and will find unqualified people getting promoted just because of their Argentinean family names or because they are well connected to a manager....nothing to do with hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementEvaluate your employees based on their Experience, performance & skills, not their passport color.
