would leave if I weren't retiring soon

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)

Prospretty good hourly pay, opportunity to move around, change positions, try to find a better manager before that one goes away.

ConsDisciplinary and dictator like attitude among managers seems to be preferred. Actual problem solving and critical analysis of problems are secondary to employees doing what they are told. Expect to be responsible for unrealistic demands, be ready to defend yourself, and explain that you have no control over something that should be obvious. Finger pointing is abundant.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect (listen to) your front line staff nurses. Think. Stop blaming the staff nurse for neg outcomes within the environment you have created and chosen.

ProsThe people are great, which allows you to learn a lot about healthcare and you get a variety of experience. Flextime and ability to work from home.

ConsNo opportunities for growth. Management has no idea on to utilize talent, or how to help the employee grow professionally within the company.

First and last time I will work for for-profit company

    Registered Nurse (Current Employee)

ProsMy immediate supervisor is great and they pay me well

ConsThe care is pt centered only in re: to litigation and profits. There are no extras here. No frills for pts, MDs, or employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe "A-Team" (this is really the name they have given themselves) need to come out of their offices into the heart of the hospital- the clinical areas. Try walking a mile in those shoes.

Too focused on financials, not enough on patient care.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood compensation and benefits, young, energetic management and directors.

ConsSo unstable, multiple layoffs every year, extremely high admin and management turnover, avoid working here if you don't want to be back in the job market in a few months.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix corporate to hospital communication and resources, figure out how to run a practice management side of the business, quit laying off your best people.

    Dissapointing

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Dallas, TX

    ProsLearned alot about healthcare industrry.

ConsCutthroat company. Management talks a good game, gives you positive reviews, a raise, then 2 months later, your position is eliminated. Too many cuts in mid level people who actually do the work, then they add s Director or above that does very little other than place additional strain on the people left to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of higher level people who do nothing but occupy an office and a parking spot instead of the people who do the work.

    Not a good one.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHealth benefits and free parking. There is a cafe on site, which you have pay for your meals but at discounted price. There is also an onsite gym you can join and pay for the membership with payroll deductions.

ConsMany things, in my opinion. Pay rate, paid time off, processes, communications, employee morale just to name a few things.

Advice to Senior ManagementStep it up a notch...please, for your employees. They help drive that bottom line and keep Tenet in the black instead of the red.
