    Pros

5 stars? So out of character, yet very inspiring. To further inspiration the contributor makes reference to redoing family budgets, and discuss company stats with "other" execs and to think he/she is only an appointment setter!? Now, that's inspiring. One would have thought the language and the references would more likely pertain to a mid to high lev exec, but clearly not in this case.

    Cons

With a 5 star review to support the company, there are no cons.

I have been working at Teq full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Obviously recently added leadership (past couple of years) have a strategy to grow the company. This is mostly good. There is a career path and although the metrics are aggressive they are doable. There is something here.

    Cons

I don't like the weekly dental exams - reviewing numbers constantly, but I get why they do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up a little. We understand this is a new Teq and most of us are adjusting. Give us some time. We will work hard but would like a little more encouragement from time to time.

    Pros

Nice office and chairs. That's about it.

    Cons

Top-heavy management. A President (the former CSO) with ZERO experience in the field of Education. High turnover of employees (from management on down). No career path. Zero respect or professionalism. Micromanagement beyond comprehension.
Do yourself a favor, read through all of the negative reviews on here as they are all 100% spot on. If you have any self-respect and dignity, do yourself a favor and do not bother to apply for a job at this place. If you have a background in Education, this place will suck you dry and destroy any love that you may have/had for the field.

    Pros

    Still getting paid on time.
All the quality personnel has either left or been laid off leaving room for unqualified employees to advance.

    Cons

Teq as a whole is one large con, mainly due to the entire top heavy management team of unqualified finger pointing, buddies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Shrink your upper and middle management teams, I believe you will get much better results.

I have been working at Teq full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Teq know their numbers. It's one thing to have some basic metrics but these guys are extreme. Sit in one meeting with execs and you want to go home and redo your family budget and ask other execs at other companies to recite from memory how many calls it takes to schedule an appointment, how many appointments it takes to get a deal, how long it takes to generate a quote, how many days it takes to ship a product, how much inventory you need for the first semester, how long it takes to resolve a service ticket and about an hundred other meaningful metrics. Inspiring.

    Cons

There is not hiding. If you are looking to punch a clock, spend the morning deciding what you will have for lunch and crank out some solid work between 2-4pm, then you can't work here. If you want a "set it and forget it" job, this place will grind you up. Not for the timid or lazy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep educating the workforce on the meaning of the metrics we are being judged upon. There are great people; future leaders in the company that work hard and want a shot at advancing their career. Look for us. We are typically not sounding our own horn.

    Pros

There are not many pros left working for Teq. They have completely changed who they once were after overpaid inexperienced management took over.

    Cons

Limited company growth, management couldn't care less about your opinion, there's no established HR department, layoffs once every six months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they wouldn't listen anyway so there isn't any advice to give.

I have been working at Teq

    Pros

Nice people (the former), nice chairs, nice computer screens....but really I'm just taking up space to use up the required 20 characters....

    Cons

Bad management. Lots of layers with new people and fancy titles. No internal promotions. Management doesn't listen. Departments that were once strong are falling apart. People literally walk out after suffering severe frustration with no one listening. Customers are treated poorly and plain old lied to. They haven't been able to retain anyone of any value and simply replace those that leave with new blood that has no clue what to do, and in 3 months it's now their fault why things are failing. The CEO is to blame for most of the problems yet no one says anything nor does anything about it. Really? How to you not know that the company is failing? How do you not know that the company needed an A/R or A/P department? No raises, no reviews. No future! The installation team used to be good. Now there are barely any people. The products were cutting edge and have now become outdated. The PD department was once great with the best customer service team and a Director of exceptional quality. It's now headed by a person who takes no responsibility and is completely derogatory and barely understandable. The IT department is sinking with all key players now having left. The customer service group is always the scapegoat yet they seem to do everything. The sales team sound like robots and do nothing but read from prompts without ever understanding the products or processes. Management is all men. This is an anti woman establishment. The one woman they had as a Director was fired and she was amazing. There is no incentive other than monthly targets which no one can seem to achieve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. You made your bed now lie in it.

    Pros? You're kidding , Right?
    *Good looking women
    *Cool chairs
*free coffee (it's disgusting, but free)
    *Bull pen style office

    Cons

Geez, this place sucks! This place is a black-hole vortex of negativity, fear, and fat middle-aged white guys who are so narrow mindedly confused as to what true leadership looks like.
Constant berating in fornt of your peers, intimidation, no communication, ridiculous sales quotas for a relatively obselete technology.
Please don't waste your time at this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't know where to start. Hopeless and beyond repair at this point. The word is out. Teq sucks.

I worked at Teq full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I had great peers/co-workers.The building itself is very nice and the desk chairs are comfortable.

    Cons

You will be told many things at your interview, but here is the truth. This review is not coming from a place of bitterness, just sadness that what could potentially be a great place to work has gone so so wrong.I left Teq voluntarily, to accept a dream job.

    1. The main/only software Teq is trying to sell is a dog. It’s way too expensive for most schools to buy once, let alone on a subscription basis! And there are many many free work-arounds using other products/open source software that even a minimally tech savvy school can figure out. Despite this reality, you will be repeatedly berated for not selling enough of it. You may even be told to quote it for a customer by end of day, or else, and then in a few weeks be called on the carpet for inflating your pipeline.

    2. You are absolutely, positively cold calling. But instead of calling a list of random ‘leads’ you are calling the same 250 or so schools in your territory. They have a set budget, a defined buying cycle, and only 1 decision maker, but you are still asked to call them repeatedly. This is annoying to them and pointless for you. This is what happens when a corporate sales guy is installed in the C-suite at an education based company.

Many times you will get a Principal or teacher on the phone, only to get an earful about the terrible customer service they had with their last order, or they will be complaining about an order they placed 6 or 8 or 10 months ago that is still not delivered or installed or complete. They are generally unwilling to pay for more goods/services when they haven't seen what they ordered and issued PO's for months ago.

    3. The weekly activity metric that you have to meet to get a weekly payout will change on a regular basis, with no notice. It changed 4 or 5 times in the less than a year that I was there. And every time it changes it of course becomes harder to hit, therefore leading to lower payouts. This is because, despite it being shoved down your throat that activity leads to sales, in K-12 Sales this is not the case….so when they are paying you weekly bonus’ based on your activity but sales/pipeline is not increasing, they don’t want to pay you anymore!

    3. The back office ops that are intended to support sales is a disaster. There is a constant rotation of responsibilities in the department that schedules installs so you never know from week to week who to go to for information on your projects. Those employees are trying their best but the magnitude of the changes is hard to keep up with. Along these lines, the internal support departments for employees such as an IT dept (both hardware and software, and phones) have been decimated by the mass exodus of employees leaving the company. I was there less than a year and more than half the employees left voluntarily. There are also constant supply/back order issues that affect sales. it's a 40 year old company that seems to have never gotten a handle on such basic business concepts as AR, Inventory and ordering.

    4. Internal Communication is awful. There will be important changes to things like SKU’s or items being listed on contracts that will drift out to the sales department like gossip, not in any official announcement. When you do get emails from your manager they will instead include completely unprofessional words and phrases and direct/indirect threats to your employment.

    5. Emphasis on all the wrong things...fancy marketing binders with product information but no price list. creating quotes is difficult and time consuming. Tons of upper management getting paid lots of money, but no money for a real CRM. How are you expected to deliver on your job requirements as a phone sales person with no CRM?
