Pros
Great technology, Senior Executives are great
Cons
Some management has been onboard a little too long and not exposed to efficiencies outside that other companies are using (Technology, Communication, etc). They don't invest in technology to help manage internally. They are still on MSFT 2003 and have no Sales Automation solution.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your infrastructure, cut back on the amount of training that is required and align proper training courses to the role and not have Architects, Pro Services, and Sales taking the same detail fo courses.
Pros
They are good.
Recognize individual's efforts.
Management is supportive and fair.
Work is balanced.
Reasonably challenging work environment.
If you are working on teradata technologies then you will learn good stuff.
Cons
The only issue i see is the IT budget. I think the higher management is in cost cutting mode, so there will be no onsite trips, no great increments. I think its true with many companies now a days.
Advice to Senior Management
They understand what is going on, they are shutting down the teradata GGN center for the same reason. I wish them good luck.
Pros
Teradata has great people and a great solution. I enjoy a flexible work schedule, decent benefits and a good family/work balance. There is plenty of opportunity for advancement and company growth. We still get bonuses when earned too!
Cons
Just like everywhere else, benefits have been squeezed recently but, comparatively speaking, they are still decent.
Advice to Senior Management
Management communicates with us regularly and keeps us motivated. Keep up the good work.
Pros
The company is flexible and profitable.
Cons
No growth opportunities
No training opportunities
Some Managers like to pick your career path for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow people to choose there own career paths and move within the company versus forcing people into positions because they are good at something the company needs and they are not happy with the position.
Pros
Work Life balance
Flexible work culture
Market Leader in it's category and great legacy
good employees
Cons
Leadership does not communicate anything other than the corporate news
salaries are much below than the average in market for it's type of companies
adapt to India and it's work culture and trends
No skill enhancement programs for employees
Advice to Senior Management
Please me more communicative to the employees
Have a vision and road map for employees as merely having a road map for product does not guarantee success in long term
Please do invest some money in improving the skills of employees
Pros
Great Technology to sell/support
Access to a lot of training
Promotes development and leadership
Cons
Resources (employees) are mismanaged
Conservative employment environment hampers creativity at low levels
Advice to Senior Management
Modernize, you are not NCR anymore
Pros
Management sets reasonable, albeit stretch goals for bonus compensation
Smart, energetic, group of individuals
Global capabilities and opportunities
Industry leading solution with solid value proposition
In the recent economic down turn management looked to protect employees by cutting everywhere else first.
Most of all, Teradata people have a "customer first" mind set.
Cons
Risk averse
Sometimes difficult to work through the operations teams - procurement, HR, legal etc.
Matrix management in the field can be difficult to work with and on occasion prevents action
Uncertainty generated by being viewed as a take over target
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to put customers and employees at the top of the priority list
Work to communicate the strategic direction and let the employees make decsions based on that direction
Pros
High technology environment is exciting. Support network is good.
Cons
Industry expertise can be behind the times.
Advice to Senior Management
Accelerate growth in R&D.
Pros
Solid product. Hot segment in the technology industry. Good co-workers.
Cons
If you consider yourself a bright individual with strong motivation to move up the career ladder, this is not the place to be. This company WILL put sudden brakes to your motivation to go up, creativity, skills, innovative thinking, personal growth. Management do not care for employees. Pay is WELL BELOW what other companies are offering. Bonus is tiny. Management makes you think they are doing you a favor by keeping you at job. Management is incompetent and do not really understand the meaning of "employee satisfaction". They do not encourage and compensate Engineers for their hard work. Lost a lot of good people because of this and this already causing a lot of quality issues in recent releases of Teradata. R&D Management should be replaced before we lose upper edge in the industry.
Advice to Senior Management
You've got great people creating and building top notch product. You keep your job because of bright people who are working real hard. Create plans to motivate your employees, encourage them to stay in this company. These people are our strength. Do not lose them. Give them enough incentives and motivation to stay.
Pros
Growing fast and stable working place and manageable job scheduling. Lots of opportunity to learn new technology and reasonable management
Cons
Very slow promotion and slow compensation and rewards programs are low. Very slow raise and lower than other working places.
