    Pros

You can live just about anywhere in the U.S. You learn all the different tools in the marketplace (open source and otherwise)...we are not tied to a single analytics platform...we use what our customers use. You have autonomy to run your project and the engagement with the customer as you see fit (although this is changing a bit now). You are able to solve problems in any industry. Other colleagues are great to work with (for the most part).

    Cons

Travel can be rough. Lots of pressure to deliver in short time lines (due to pressure TD has to sign smaller projects).

    Advice to Management

Find your micro-managers and get rid of them. They break down the soul of talented people you want to keep.

    Current Employee - Software Developer
    Current Employee - Software Developer

I have been working at Teradata full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My current manager is a great manager, but he has little control over the negatives faced at this company. It is a job that pays the bills.

    Cons

Upper management seems clueless as to how to improve our products or manage a software company, and the mass exodus of talent and stock drop are evidence of this. They pay below the industry average for software developers. Poor project management results in an expectation of long weeks and weekends for the developers. There is virtually no path to promotion, and no merit increase above 1.5%, if at all. There is no innovation in the technology.

    Advice to Management

You shouldn't have gotten rid of all the people who made the product successful in the first place. Do what you have to in order to keep talented people. Low pay and overwork are the cause for many of our developers leaving. We need to use the latest technology to bring our product up to speed with competitors or we will be out of business in a few years.
