I have been working at Tessera

    Pros

The perks are quite good, including comp, vacation, holidays, onsite activiities, such as workout classes and yoga. There are plenty of opportunities for growth

    Cons

Turn over is a bit high, but people who leave tend to do well, so I think this is just the nature of silicon valley. People do come back, so the atmosphere is supportive and does not harbor resentment against former employees. I think Tessera is a model in this regard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

none. Keep up the good work.

I worked at Tessera full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Nice place to learn. You will learn a lot especially for image analysis.
You will also learn about clean rooms, you can easily switch departments.

    Cons

too many layoffs. Layoffs is like twice a year, yet they keep employing.
Sometimes, you will work weekends to meet a deadline.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only hire those you intend to keep long

I have been working at Tessera full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, competitive compensations and work-life balance. You get plenty of funding and time to work on cool technologies that may get used.

    Cons

Incompetent leadership in Invensas. Rampant nepotism and old-boy's club culture. The only way to get ahead is to not rock the boat and/or kiss up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to change the guy in charge to make it a good company.

I have been working at Tessera full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place it you want to learn how to back stab.

    Cons

Tessera was once a good place to work but this was before the new change. Current team is not impressive. Very fake with no care about its employees or the company. Take a look at higher level salary. The board of directors was changed out in hopes for positive change since in the past there was some bad sketchy business goings on even some sexual relations with upper management. Today the company is the same or even worse. ALL upper management including human resources are all one inclusive family. They only watch out for them. The Executive Assistants are sketchy too. Pay is basically the same as with other places. Individual departments are good but since it’s a small place you will end up in the drama that the exec staff causes for no reason at all. Expenses and paying vendors take 6 months since staff in the accounting department is overworked. Employees are unhappy and end up taking from the workplace since they are not taken care of. Find another place to work. Some of us even put attempts to take classes to move up in the company and was turned down for classes that HR suggested. Although we see other employees taking classes that have no relation to their job and the company is paying for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please change out the person in charge along with all the direct reports. nothing positive will happen when they are in charge. The person assisting also has many ill feelings towards all employees and needs to change attitudes or be changed out.

    Pros

Some great people to work with
    Constant changes

    Cons

Not so great people to work with
    No vision

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some real managers that really know what they're doing and what they want to do. They hire a lot of top level managers that know someone but don't know what they're doing.
I've seen all the C levels swapped out throughout the years with ones that say a lot without doing a lot. Everyone is in it for themselves which is a shame. There are some people down below with great talent but no leadership from above.

    I worked at Tessera full-time

    Pros

Great interdisciplinary interaction, lots of knowledgable and helpful people, a sense of the importance of research and development, ubiquitous open door policy, small enough that you can really get to meet everyone.

    Cons

Vision is not properly communicated at all levels of the organization leading to some silos, rotating door of higher management provides for less-than-stellar stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on creating a vision and mission that you can properly communicate to the company at large, and then execute truthfully.

I have been working at Tessera

    Pros

Tessera places a relatively high value on employees as stakeholders. Reasonably good cash flow and relaxed working environment improves ability to perform well.

    Cons

Changes are in economic climate and lack of high probability of success business plan will make for a rocky situation in the coming few years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on clear value added ROI to encourage best talent to stay and motivate others to come.
