I worked at Texaco part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    They pay above minimum wage.
    Fairly flexible hours.
Loose standards, meaning that you can get away with some things.

    Cons

Because their standards are loose, you can never know if the shift before you will have completed all of their work.
There is very little corporate loyalty to the cashier.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should consider who they choose for local management as that person will have a formative influence on all the employees below them.

Current Employee - Cashier in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

I have been working at Texaco part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

easy to interact with customers and build up a rapport with them, most of the job is just common sense; check to make sure a car is diesel before putting it in etc. minimum wage with tips is fairly decent wages in ireland if you are a student

    Cons

no real opportunity to rise in the company but for me it was a part time job so i'm not complaining. sometimes customers can be tricky and co workers can be lazy but that's to be expected in a garage

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

one person cannot stack shelves and work a till at the same time, there should be more time afforded to stocking the shop. texaco petrol is also apparently notoriously expensive as customers keep reminding me, could a greater profit be made by reducing the price a cent or two?
