I worked at Texas Children's Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The culure at this organization is based on good old school values. Employees are treated very well and are compensated acordingly. They have a cash balance pension plan in addition to matching 403b.

    Cons

The upward mobility might be a bit slow because turn over is very small. Most leaders have been in their positons for more than 5 years and probably plan on retiring there.

I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I like my hours, don't work weekends, pay at this point is good, paid time off is great, I basically get whatever day I request off (because of the dept and team/manager I work with) always full stocked coffee supplies ;)

    Cons

Very stressful, management expectations are really high but never enough in the budget to hire more staff to help with all these crazy expectations, patients complaining about wait times gets tiring. They reward us with jean day! We don't want jean day give us money or gift cards! Company is stingy considering how much profit they make. Too many employees act like they are managers, doctors think they can manage as well which confuses everyone because everyone isn't on the same page. Very inconsistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upgrade all computers and faster internet. It makes it hard to work with such slow running systems. Cleaning crew never cleans, place is really dirty. IS help desk is useless! They make too much money to never help resolve issues. Reward employees a lot more with free lunch, gift cards, better raises, hire more staff if you want 100% scores, expand outpatient clinics with more patient rooms. Hire better financial counslers who ACTUALLY want to do their job.

I worked at Texas Children's Hospital as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked as a Help Desk Intern with the Genesys Works program, and had an amazing experience. The employees were extremely nice and helpful. I had a very valuable work experience there.

    Cons

My manager was quite tough, but I believe it was because I was a high school student and he wanted to ensure that I contributed fully at all times. Other than that, I don´t have any complaints.

I worked at Texas Children's Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The hospital seemed to work as a very good team when it comes to patient care. Every employee seemed to be important in the eyes of the hospital from the housekeeping staff , lab, pharmacy , nurses and doctors. Working in an allied health profession, this is often ignored at hospitals.

    Cons

Driving to the Texas medical center. The hospital does provide bus passes for free though.

I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the ability to help others and make a difference in someone's life.

    Cons

I didn't experience anything negative while here, but if I had to say it would be the parking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide additional training in the many areas of the hospital will benefit everyone involved.

A great place to work for

I have been working at Texas Children's Hospital

    Pros

Friendly environment at work, with great benefits and facilities for employees. Provides parking. Easy to commute to and from work.

    Cons

Nothing major. I work in research and have to deal with a lot of purchasing, and it is much more difficult to deal with TCH purchasing than with Baylor's. It is harder to get things approved and it takes much longer for orders to be fulfilled by the vendors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Nothing.

  10.

    Cons

Commute time is rough depending on where you live.
