Pros
Big corporate atmosphere.
Still has lots of good people but not sure if it is going to hold for long.

Work Life Balance is not just a phrase word. For the most part you are judged on your performance not hours at the office

As with all large companies career mobility can be difficult if you do not have the right connections. Networking is very important.

Need to do a better job of acknowledging success, even the small ones. It doesn't always have to be a home run to be successful
Pros
The benefits and pay at Texas Instruments are above average but they expect every bit in return. We were expected to go in many days off for extra training.
Cons
Work life balance stinks. You are expected to come in on days off many times. there is no repsect for longevity. Once you rise up the ranks to earn a nice salary they look for ways to replace you with a cheaper alternative.

Texas Instruments has a good sharing of knowledge between groups. The benefits are good compared to others. The salary is good compared to others.
Cons
Outsourcing has been a problem in regards to USA jobs. Incoming engineers are H1 Visas. Some groups focus on internal equipment and technology making you less marketable.

Make your employees work in satisfaction, and not fear. This is typical across companies. Use industry standards.

Good place for fresh graduate, although not high salary, no bonus. A lot of people left after several years. Good luck.

Work hard. Credit is taken by your manager, lead. You got nothing in the first several years. Good luck to TIer.

Be nice to your employee. They are the reason why you are paid. Not because your management, but because of engineer.
Pros
Solid corporation.
Systems in place to manage people, products, service.
Decent benefits.

Window dress with the systems in place for employee care. Grass roots of managing employees is connecting and engaging with the employee, and I don't see this at all by mid to upper management. This practice most definitely funnels to line supervisors in the way they manage their lines/people.

Engage employees, starting with lowest level on up.

It was a good company to work for. I learned something new every single day. It was a challenging and dynamic environment.
Cons
There a was a tendency for meetings to run to long for lateness by parties who were attending other meetings.

TI can provide a diverse set of career options to an engineer. It is upto you to find what you will like and pursue it. This diversity is very good. Furthermore, although people complain about schedules and how much work they are piled up with, my observation is that people have a pretty healthy work life balance here.
Cons
If you are a person with a technical career track in mind and yet you also want to be moving up in the management path, it is very difficult to do that in TI. TI is managed by sales oriented people. They might be running a company which could be selling anything. They happened to find themselves in the semiconductor field. So, either switch to marketing related roles (which are plenty by the way) and try your chances there or if you want to stay as a technical person, then accept the facts at the beginning and try to be content with your life with some other things.
