I have been working at Texas Roadhouse part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Insurance, great people to work with. Most of the time flexible hours. Meet new people. A great job for quick money if needed.

    Cons

Must work sundays. Not everyone gets treated equally, seniority wins majority of the time. Not many opportunities for moving up in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to staff concerns, and take more opinions into consideration.

Current Employee - Texas Roadhouse Hostess in Savannah, GA

I have been working at Texas Roadhouse part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Expectations are laid out clearly, staff is very friendly to work with, managers are friendly for the most part, customers are largely friendly as well, Savannah may just be a friendly town. A hostess' hourly wage is actually $4-something, with 30% of server's tips split up among hosting/bussing/cooking staff to make up the rest of the minimum wage requirement. Mostly you'll make minimum, on weekends you can make up to $11/hour

    Cons

Promoting from within takes a long time, fellow hostesses who want to become servers have to wait up to and over a year, the position you're hired for is the one you'll occupy for a long time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Several of your wannabe managers, who are just expos right now, are overly-critical in an attempt to promote themselves to their superiors' eyes, thus severely isolating the hosting staff and making us very hostile towards those who would like to become our bosses

I worked at Texas Roadhouse part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The food and SOME coworkers. Honestly, there isn't a lot of pros.

    Cons

Management thinking they are above everyone when they are nothing in real life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to run a business. I worked at the New Berlin restaurant, and honestly I could have ran the business better than my senior managers and I was 16 at the time I worked there. It doesn't take a genius to run a Texas Roadhouse. They screw you over tip share, don't know how to make a schedule. I put them in their place when they tried to make me stay past my scheduled time when in the labor laws state that you DONT HAVE TO stay past your scheduled time. It makes me laugh so hard at these managers when they don't make nothing for money and they still think they are above everybody.....guess what I'm now 22 making triple what they are making thanks to my accounting and business degree.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, lots of field support!

    Cons

The pay is fairly low, but usually the LSM is a server or bartender or key hourly so tips make up for it.
