    Advice to Management

I worked here as my first job when I was 16. Hopefully the management has drastically improved since I've been there.
People can be very demanding of you as a hostess, and take advantage of your kindness, naïveté and youth. Management did nothing to improve this, instead they (along with servers) seemed to perpetuate this stigma of hostesses being "stupid" based on how they talked to you.
I just thought that this was how a job was, that they "don't have to be nice to you" (these are actual words from a front-of-house manager).
I wish I had worked somewhere else as a first job so I could have earlier developed a sense of self-respect in the work field.

stay calm, if your calm your workers will be calm and the work will actually get done.

    Pros

It's a job and you leave with cash every night.

    Cons

NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. You tell managers you want three shifts a week and they schedule you for 5...two of those shifts being doubles! Our store is grossly understaffed because the management sucks and instead of hiring more people they just force everyone to work ridiculous hours. They have pregnant staff workers working 6 or 7 DAY WORK WEEKS. I had a coworker complain about being scheduled 13 days in a row with no break. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? People have school, kids, husbands/wives, friends, they'd like to see. Servers are made to do EVERYTHING. Clean their own tables, seat their own tables, wash dishes. the hostesses and the busboys can't do that? Oh wait, they don't hire enough to keep the cost of labor down. Why pay someone minimum wage when you get people to do for tipped minimum wage? Freaking joke. When you bring up the fact that idk you have a life to live, management threatens to fire you! Not my fault you scheduled me out of my availability.

Hostesses and busboys are lazy, and I have to share MY tips I busted my behind for with them?
The only people who get breaks are precious smokers. Stupid.

    Advice to Management

I hope this location gets shut down.

I worked at Texas Roadhouse part-time

    Pros

Serving staff, food discount, the fact they have runners and preps, small sections

    Cons

Small sections, too strict of a serving introduction to tables- If corporate comes in, you can get fired. I've seen a lot of amazing staff get fired for messing up their SHOP in a small way.

    Advice to Management

Don't hunker down so much on the introduction and the SHOP. It makes it robotic and difficult to do the job.
