    Nothing more than good benefits.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGood Insurance, 4-5 weeks PTO, and 401K.

ConsNo training and No support from any level of Managers. Can't trust Human Resources cause they are not confidential and will Retaliate. Does not hold people accountable or responsible for their job or actions. Does not appreciate those with an education. Too much politics. No opportunities unless you really know how to suck up big time.

Advice to Senior ManagementAppreciate people for their hard work. Let the employees anonymously rate their managers to decide who actually Needs Improvement.

Always challenging, sometimes frustrating, always interesting

    Business Analyst (Current Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGreat benefits, never boring, bosses let you do your job with a large degree of independence.

ConsUpper management sometimes out of touch, reluctant to settle conflicts, conflicts created by conflicting goals. Examples, build something quickly, but spend no time or money on it, but get it delivered. Satisfy customers, but cut costs from current level by spending less time on customer satisfaction. Handle more business, but with fewer people.

Advice to Senior ManagementTell everyone what the priority is, instead of making people wrong no matter what the result

    Technician (Former Employee)
    Tukwila, WA

    ProsGreat benefits.
    Good pay.
Relaxed atmosphere with a lot of funny people (lots of ex-military).

ConsWork can be slow with the decline of the airline industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up.

Give you generic job title to lower compensation

    Difficult place to work

    Program Manager (Current Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGood benefits, 4 weeks vacation, 401k. If you like travel, Thales gives you many opportunities to do so and it is great to take advantage of that.

ConsDifficult to accomplish anything. Lots of travel in my position as program manager which i don't like. Thales is political and run by the french.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to consider the employees more and find ways to retain them. Employees will start leaving when they reach the breaking point.

    Great place to work

    Systems Engineer (Current Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsInnovative group of people that strive to provide the best product to customers, with a reliable system and the best support on the field.

ConsSchedules are not well thought out from the inception of the program were sales people not necessarily know what the system is capable of doing and if the technology is ready to support such requirement.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake advantage of the resources available through out the corporation to develop a more solid system with fewer hiccups and delays

    Thales. Learn from past mistakes.

    Program Manager (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGreat benefits. The 4 weeks of vacation actually include sick days. The benefits are good. Met and worked with many wonderful people. Product is good.

ConsPeople are worked to death. Management does not know how to structure itself and work towards a better environment. Finger pointing. Departments do not speak to each other. Management infighting. To be promoted you had better be in the same cultural vertical.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership at Thales would not take any comments into consideration. The atmosphere is very high school 'mentality' oriented. Management needs to place more respect on the efforts of all employees and not the few. The company is not progressing from efforts of management, but from efforts and hard work of the employees.

    Quality Assurance

    Quality Engineer (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsGood benefits. Paid overtime. Probably the same "working" benefits as any other large size corporation.

ConsFalse promises from management. Hard work is only appreciated behind closed doors through "words" NOT through bonuses or salary increases. A LOT of dead wood in the company! False rumours originating from management!

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider protecting your investment (i.e. the many $$ spent on training and developing people) by retaining employees, rather than just replacing them.

    Great benefits

    Intern (Former Employee)
    Paris (France)

ProsAlthough is a huge company, it still makes you feel like a human being. They give lots of benefits for the employees, and you also get to work with state of the art technology

ConsIt's so massive, that the bureaucracy is huge. As an example, it takes ages before you can install some software in your computer because lots of people have to approve it

Wish the Leicester site hadn't closed down

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Leicester, England (UK)

ProsI worked for Thales at their site in Leicester, I was gutted when they relocated all of their operations to Crawley and closed the Leicester site, in the year since leaving I am yet to find a company with such a great atmosphere, great staff, family feel etc, I miss the xmas raffle, parties, Diwali celebrations. I wonder if Leicester was unique in this way ?
Thales as a company offer good routes for progression, pay rises, appraisals and courses, 27 days holiday plus options to purchase more holiday, discounts with petrol companies and retailers, good pension etc.
    Great company to work for

ConsChallenges of my position were with dealing with customers who's work had not been completed on time.
