    Pros

Benefits are great (if you manage to take them up on them), the work is everything you'd expect from a hotel owning giant, I have managed to acquire quite a few contacts and friends through this job.

    Cons

It seems that, if you really want a job in managing your own hotel, you have to know someone who already works here. It doesn't make any sense to me that someone who has less experience than me, deserves to be a manager. Upper management seems to take everything the lower employees say with a grain of salt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check who you hire better, and really start listening to your employees, we're not just complaining to hear ourselves complain.

    Pros

I really enjoyed my job and my co-workers and my work environment.

    Cons

The pay was awful and the management was horrible. They had a staffing company (Spherion Staffing) doing all of the hiring and write ups and they were trying to write up almost everyone, even if it was for a wrong reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop using an outsource company and maybe your employees would work harder for you. Pay also really needs to increase.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Met some very nice people while I worked there. Some genuinely try to do a good job.

    Cons

Upper management is scattered across the country and does not seem to speak to each other. They also have little time for anything less than perfection. Very little training or direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to the opinions and concerns of your employees. They are the ones running your properties.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

Current Employee - Assistant General Manager in Memphis, TN

    Pros

the only good reason would probably the social atmosphere among employees, management likes to feed you and its location

    Cons

the pay assistant GMs 24,000 a year. the company's favorite term is "pay freeze" which basically means no one is getting a raise that year. they have a special account set up were as if you work 4 or more years with the company you are automatically invested in it. and you can collect that money whenever you leave there after.NO ONE has ever been known to get it. and here in Memphis there is alot of discrimination and unequal treatment from senior management towards others

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to the employees instead of running to the senior heads like they are the parents

    Company NOT managed

Current Employee - Project Manager  in  Fargo, ND
Current Employee - Project Manager in Fargo, ND

    Pros

Discounted hotel rooms all over the nation. My department is understanding of having family issues come up.

    Cons

Everything else. Locked into a "temporary employee" payscale even after conversion to the company. There is no pay raise based on your performance, only how long you have been there. There is no TEAM here...one employee who does well seems to take the brunt of all of the incompetance of other employees dispite the stress to one. Manager does not manager or like confrontation whatsoever, so therefore...there is NO communication between management and employees. This creates resentment BIG TIME.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

BE - DO you job. Manage employees who are NOT doing their job, do not reward observable bad behaviors. REWARD those who actually do a good job, and TELL them that are doing well...
