    Pros

Note- My review is coming from someone who works in a non technical department. People for the most part are friendly. The job itself is good. Decent benefits and RDO schedules are offered.

    Cons

Management in non technical areas should be looked at better. Can be overworked with no respect given to employees on the team. Reward for doing a great job is doing even more work (with no planning and heads up given) by management. People are stuck in their ways. Most have been with the corporation for over 20 years and do not want to change. 20 year + employees tend to have negative and limiting attitudes which affect those around them. Management allows these negative attitudes to happen.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people. Hire more younger employees that will keep the corporation with bright and new ideas. Also LISTEN to your people and staff!

    Pros

Good place to look around and explore your interests Easy work, not too much responsibility Pay is not great but the work is easy Great place for people that like to attend meetings all day long

    Cons

Senior management (CEO and Group VPs) get highly paid by squeezing the working staff salary increases. Politics reigns supreme in getting ahead Company does not develop any marketable products; not good for an innovative young person It's service to the customer is easily fulfilled in the form of years of man-years (STE); no measure of quality

    Advice to Management

As a nonprofit company that was created to serve the public good and support the govt, the company's executive salaries should be open to the public.

    Pros

Good benefits. Focused on space technology and solving difficult engineering and technology problems

    Cons

Slow and bureaucratic. Needs to remove osified layers of management.

    Advice to Management

Flatten organization -- streamline business -- breakdown silos -- collaborate and share. Remove empire builders and information hoarders.

    Pros

Very laid back company atmosphere. Most everyone is willing to help and talk to you if you have an issue or just want to take a break from work.

    Cons

Work was very independent, though guidance given if asked for, but did not feel like much of a team atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Not too much to say here. Was a nice experience for my first internship but compensation could be a bit better.

    Pros

Technical people can learn a lot. There is a lot of R&D that goes on and thus it is a good place to grow technically.

    Cons

Can be bureaucratic at times. The company can be slow to make changes, they do not always react quickly to changing work environments.

    Pros

Great atmosphere. The company really values its people. Great work life balance

    Cons

The location was the biggest challenge. It is located in a location that is hard to commute to (long drive) unless you can afford a really nice home close by, but that is probably unlikely.

    Advice to Management

    Allow work from home more.

    Pros

Great culture, education advancement opportunities, excellent work-life balance, always stimulating and interesting work

    Cons

The average age of employees is 50+, and the company tends to be very academia-oriented, which gets annoying at times

    Advice to Management

Hire young, driven employees that will invigorate the company and give fresh new ideas to the company

    Pros

    1. Worked on several really cool projects using some high end equipment. 2. Lots of hands on work with hardware. 3. Everybody was professional with each other. I barely heard any kind of gossip or talking behind the back. 4. Lots of optional overtime during the summer. 5. Lots of optional presentations for interns and new employees to show the kind of work the company does and offer advice.

    Cons

While working, I didn't have any problems. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was that they told me many times that interns were hired as long as they don't screw up. However, when I asked about a job after I graduated, I was told there were no positions open. So I guess they never told me the fine print in which interns get hired only when the positions are available.

    Advice to Management

I wasn't there long enough to form any opinion.
