I worked at The Alexander Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you like the small office atmosphere, this may be for you. The work is not terribly difficult, the key is relationship management with the client, reading body language, etc, etc. Everyone there seems to really believe in the work they do, so if you buy into their system and what they sell, you'll love it.

    Cons

In terms of the analyst role honestly all you're there for is taking notes, taking notes, being a warm body in the room, and summarizing notes for your boss. It gets mind-numbingly boring after a while.

The review system is pretty terrible, you may not know how bad you're doing until the review comes up, management is bad about real-time feedback.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I honestly don't know how much more you can do to make the business analyst's job more interesting, or your ability to pay a higher salary for the travel/work demands. It may just be constrained by size.

I have been working at The Alexander Group as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the employees while I worked in the office full-time. They are friendly and relational, understanding the value of working well with others. There was an ample amount of work to be done every day, which helped everyone stay focused and diligent.

    Cons

The time spent talking with people was minimal. I felt that my work sometimes hindered my ability to talk with others on a regular basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at The Alexander Group

    Pros

The work is very interesting. I have gotten a lot of exposure to key client issues and key client management. I also have a higher level of responsibility than I would elsewhere at my level.

    Cons

Sometimes it is very apparent that AGI is a small company. The benefits are okay, the hours are sometimes very long, and you have to do most of your learning on your own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue striving to formalize people development at AGI. I hope that eventually the newcomers will be brought up to speed evenly and consistently.
