    Pros

This company is great if you are looking to work in the retail world. They will push and train you to be your absolute best. The great discount doesn't hurt either.

    Cons

You are very much judged on your appearance. Multiple times I have seen coworkers sent home for not wearing makeup or having their hair up in a ponytail. If you are one of those people who makes sure they look their best before leaving the house then this will not be a problem for you.

I worked at The Buckle part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible hours for college students. If you are extremely outgoing, and possess basic intelligence, you will have the opportunity to make up to $20 with the commission structure in BTS & Christmas seasons.

    Cons

Training was fast, and it was sink or swim. This caused a high turnover rate. Pushing of the Buckle card to people obviously not in need of another line of credit on their financial history was taxing on the soul.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, with fun and exciting people.

    Cons

Hourly wage was extremely low. Worked hard and never got a raise. They had to employ 2 workers to complete the work I had done on a weekly basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation needs to be much higher.

    Pros

-The best thing about working at the Buckle at MOA is that if you are willing to work hard, you will succeed. If you give your best, you will recive the best.
-You can make around 18 bucks an hour during holiday and BTS if you are slightly intelligent, have great people skills, and you understand that time not selling is time wasted.
-The development of leadership skills, sales skills, and people skills is better than going to business school.
    - The people that walk through the door are great to network with, which in turn creates easier opportunities for guest loyalty.

    Cons

-If there is a day you need off during the busy season, you can forget about it.
-If you need a day off at any other time, you better expect to pay for it in some respect.
-To be the best emplyee, you need to give your life to the company.
-There is such an emphasis on growth, and there is so much pressure to sell, you come to resent the leadership.
    - Don't let them SELL you the dream, unless you really want it.
    - Leadership will promise you things to keep you there and working hard, but they RARELY follow through with promises. 1 store manager has come out of MOA in 5 years... I have seen 4 MT's leave for other opportunities in the time I was there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This may be your life, and you might be making bank, but sales teamates don't make anything compared to you. So, don't act like you are the giver of life when you hand us our lower-class level paychecks.

I have been working at The Buckle

    Pros

The Buckle is one of the only retailers right now who is "up" overall in net sales. We have no long-term debt and have a group of highly talented people leading the company. Buckle is around to stay and really recognizes their employees who work hard. There is also ample room to grow at Buckle depending upon how hard you work for it. Honestly, hard work does not go unnoticed in this company. If you are looking for a company that is growing rapidly but still holds "small time" firm qualities you have found the place. At Buckle you are not just a number. The CEO and Vise President know me by name and face and know what I have accomplished and what I am working on. No better feeling than to walk in to a meeting room and have the CEO know who you are before they have even met you.

    Cons

The only complaint I have is the personal life balance. Buckle is my life right now and I would love to have some free time instead of working 70 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep doing what you're doing.
