    Pros

Good benefits. Well paid room to grow. Well placed steps of service .High standards rotation of menu with season. Obtainable bonus

    Cons

With being under such a huge umbrella company. There is a gap in core beliefs from corporate of the past and the present. Rushed placement of Ill trained staff and those who lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the strength of the team instead of the single. Look for local impact points instead of across the board company placement of items and incentives

I worked at The Capital Grille full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get to taste everything on the menu during training, so you become familiar with the food. It's high cover average; you make a decent wage.

    Cons

The menu is dated and played-out. You work on double on Thanksgiving. You have to work lunches, regardless of how long you've been employed. You wear potato sacks and name tags. Need I say more?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Managing Partner is only concerned with being a Regional.

    Pros

good work/life balance for people in school or that have daytime commitments. High price point and consistent volume. Managers do their best to keep a good attitude and help accommodate scheduling conflicts.

    Cons

They don't take taxes out of your pay, no health benefits until you work there for a whole year, slim opportunity or incentive for advancements, not much respect between coworkers.

    Pros

Great money, freedom to do what's right by your guest. Able to stand by your product (90 percent of the time). Personalities are encouraged.

    Cons

Very corporate atmosphere. Can be somewhat cutthroat. Can be both emotionally and physically challenging. Unpredictability of schedule. Very shareholder driven mentality.

    Pros

Get to work with high end clientele in an upscale environment. Lots of opportunity to move up with a little dedication.

    Cons

Benefits are lacking if you are not full time management.

    Cons

Too focused on cutting costs and the quality of the product has declined

I have been working at The Capital Grille part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tips can be very, very good. But the menu is boring and almost never changes. The win\es are obviously profit driven rather than having cool wines on the menu.

    Cons

As a server you have to run your own first and second courses. The night shift is extremely cut throat, people have bad attitude . Everyone complains about something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    ok.

    Pros

Dry Aging was totally impressive and what I went to the Capital Grille to learn

    Cons

Worked 75 hours a week... as a sous chef... executive chef was no HELP at all... first CG on the west coast... 2 years later closed... work life balance non-existent...all kitchen staff over-worked... company didn't listen to advise from experienced chefs....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to experienced executive chefs... we know our market.... hire enough folks to open a restaurant without forcing employees to work 75 hour work weeks.... no exaggeration... AT ALL

I have been working at The Capital Grille full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Prestigious and great to add to resume as a building block. Good intentions with company values. Good training documents and food.

    Cons

At this location (Boca Raton), management and guests are almost unbearable. Management is very political and there is not much equality amongst servers in respect to stations. Management continually will penalize you for voicing your thoughts or opinions via bad sections or bad scheduling. It in-turn creates a bad work atmosphere as many staff are bitter towards other co-workers. This location might have one of the highest turnovers for employee staff within the Capital Grille chain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Equality! More skilled/impartial management. Every staff member hired should be up to Capital Grille standards. By doing such, every server should be more or less equal, and a fair section rotation should be setup within the restaurant. Management should plan appropriately the amount of staff needed for each evening. Many nights the restaurant is severely overstaffed only to appease upper management with no complaints. -Boca guests know to complain even if not an issue as they are rewarded with $50 gift card (sorry card).
