    Pros

Good pay for hostess, good chance for major tips in all other positions. Discount on food at all Darden restaurants so that's cool

    Cons

Work every single holiday and managers don't care about you. I literally had one tell me and three other people that we were easily replaceable.

    Advice to Management

Stop expecting your employees to bend over backwards when you treat them like garbage. You can't expect your employees to be perfect when all they get is berated.

    Pros

Ability to wow guests with comp tab.

    Cons

Overstaffing or being too cautious about expected business.

    Advice to Management

Be aggressive with cuts and phasing people out. Our livelihood depends on making a strong dollar per hour number. The communication is great and I felt valued as an employee.

    Pros

Benefits are really good. Kind of expensive but you have them atleast. The schedule was flexible which was the best part.

    Cons

Arrogant managers at my specific location. Hey were rude and thought to highly of themselves.

    Advice to Management

Hire better managers who will treat coworkers with respect. Trust the front of tr house more.

    Pros

Great management, provided with all tools to complete my job

    Cons

More communication between staff/teamwork, horrible waitstaff uniforms

    Advice to Management

Yes, we are all adults but even those you don't think need supervision, need to watched more carefully.

    Pros

Good money. No happy hour. Some team work.

    Cons

Corporate politics on a line level.

    Advice to Management

Do your job and help the staff.

  8. Good company if you're willing to be patient to move up.

I worked at The Capital Grille full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great training, management and employees. The place has high income potential and is somewhere you will learn a lot and grow. I would recommend working here if you like the restaurant business.

    Cons

Takes some time to move up through the company. I was under the impression that I would be able to move up faster than was actually possible which caused me to look for employment elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest with employees about the career outlook, it will save a lot of wasted time hiring and training people that are looking for more than a position has to offer.

    Pros

Better than average wage. Most employees are educated and professional.

    Cons

Expect to work doubles on all holidays. In fact, expect to work two doubles every week.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are a reflection of your management skills.

  10. Hostessed for nearly 4 years - one of my most positive work experiences. Company that encourages learning & growth.

    Pros

Talented, hardworking team that encouraged building your knowledge base and honored those who showed an interest in growing professionally. The heirarchy was blurred by the emphasis on teamwork and the enthusiasm to teach whomever wanted to learn. I loved working here, learned a ton and felt proud of the product we delivered. I gave a "neutral" review of senior management because I saw both ends of the spectrum. I can't speak enough praise for the good ones!

    Cons

Inconsistency from location to location. Brand standards and culture are not equally implemented everywhere, and coming from one restaurant that lived and breathed the passion for quality and outstanding guest service that set TCG apart, to one that really didn't seem to mind that much that they weren't upholding that was a huge letdown, and made it tough to respect management, and to take pride in your work.

    Advice to Management

Empower your employees to problem solve, and be there to back them on their actions. It makes a HUGE difference. Coming from one location that did this and more, and then transferring to another in which management opted to hide out and do inventory during the dinner rush to avoid angry guest confrontations made quality service impossible, and drove many good employees out.

    Pros

Extremely flexible with my school schedule and took care of me at every step. Higher pay for hourly workers than industry average.

    Cons

Management needed to be stronger. Ended up having to work later hours when team members would pull a no show.

    Advice to Management

Be stronger as a team and be clear about what you all expect. Different managers expected things to be done differently and it was difficult to please them all.
