Want a life don't work here!

Customer Associate (Current Employee)
Overland Park, KS

I have been working at The Children's Place part-time for less than a year

ProsDiscount, Good for collage students or high school looking for part time. flexible schedules.

ConsIf needing hours or money to have a life this isn't the place unless your in management. Customer associate get between four to fifteen hours. Great discount but nothing else. Also managers don't listen to people on there availably and will blow up your phone even if you are off that day. Short shifts mostly 4 hr shifts sometimes 6 hr shifts. With no day scheduled off some of them will just be call shifts but since most employees call in more in likely your have to work your call in.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdd more hours, and plan schedule where people don't have to close and then open we have families and life's and don't want to live at work. So if you really need us to open and close have the open shift first then the close shift that way we can have sleep and time for are families. Also for your high volume stores put more people on the floor that way who ever closing doesn't have to stay late picking up so many messes.

A great hot mess.

Store Manager (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time

ProsAssociates are awesome. They make work fun.

ConsWorkload/Payroll imbalance
Insincere upper management (i.e., DMs, RD, and visiting HQ executives are shady.)
Store Manager is the furthest one is likely to go as a field employee.
Updates that throw the whole store off course for a week.
Shady peers.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it real. Consider how unrealistic the workload is. You all expect SMs to be three people.

The Rumors Were True

Stock Associate (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at The Children's Place part-time for more than a year

ProsJust that the work was pretty simple.

ConsEverything else basically. This is what I want to fill out. Basically, I heard about the rumors about how bad this company is in that it doesn't give enough hours, or enough pay. I read the reviews here of Glassdoor and noticed how negative they all were. yet, I was optimistic about what my experience would be at Children's Place. Let's just say that the job seemingly started off well enough, until about a week later when my hours were cut. Two weeks after I started, I noticed that two workers that started at the same time that I did had gotten more hours than I did for that week. Then on the following week, they gave me 0 hours! That was the straw that broke the camels back for me (I've gone through this at another job) so I decided to take the low road by quitting by not showing up to work the next time I was scheduled. Pretty much since they were unprofessional to me, I've decided to be unprofessional to them in return. Why should I give them the courtesy to tell them I was quitting? They don't deserve it.

Advice to Senior ManagementSimple. either add more hours to the pay roll or distribute the hours you do have fairly.

Mixed reviews

General Manager (Current Employee)
Ontario, CA

I have been working at The Children's Place full-time for more than a year

ProsGood pay. Great vacation and sick time for FT. Decent benefits. Some great leaders.

ConsIt is very challenging. I had the best DM and Regional I've ever worked. I also had a new inexperienced DM who did not help and support and really didn't know what they were doing. Payroll is non-existent. Workload is insanely high. No training even at management level.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your people.

Store downhill over the past few months

Sales Lead (Former Employee)
Lake George, NY

I worked at The Children's Place part-time for more than a year

Pros-met a select few good coworkers throughout my time there

Cons-overturn was getting to be ridiculous
-over worked and under paid
-went above and beyond expectations set for me
-was doing SM and ASM duties with leads pay
-schedule for the following Sunday-Saturday was completed the day before the week started (fingers crossed)
-Condescending and deceiving upper management (in store and corp levels)
-hiring upper management in all the wrong ways
-we lost many good dedicated workers due to drama and being under paid
-given tasks by our DM without giving us the tools which set the store up for failure
-pay in general
-never received a thank you

Advice to Senior ManagementThe store is turning into a garbage dump, customers go in there and ask if the store is closing. STOP PICKING FAVORITES AND START CHOOSING PEOPLE WHO ARE DEDICATED HARD WORKERS! Start paying and stop being greedy, that's why the store has had less than 10 employees the past 7 months. Either shape up, or shut the store down.
