    Pros

If you're fortunate to have good co-workers, that makes all the difference in your shift.

    Cons

The politics completely hide the fact that these are human beings. They treat these kids like they only matter because of the pay day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should make yourselves privy to what's happening in these cottages, not via e-mail though.

    Pros

Great training opportunities. options to learn and grow within the agency, personal growth and development.

    Cons

Minimal raises for work in the last few years. Some programs are taken more seriously than others-ie residential versus community based.

    Pros

Facility was clean and comfortable. Benefits were decent. Large convenient parking lot.

    Cons

Everyone was generally miserable. A most unhappy place. I once heard the Executive Director, when faced with a problem, respond "Who can we blame for this?"

I worked at The Children's Village

    Pros

You work with great children and families. You will receive a lot of information about the child welfare system depending on what department you work in on the campus.

    Cons

Unrealistic workload with no support or proper supervision. Social work supervisors at the residential level run from crisis and are not held accountable for their turnover or bad attitudes when it comes to working with children and families. Social work practice is not taken seriously as a respected field of therapy. Social workers are utilized to do case management more than the therapy that is advertised on the website alongside case workers who carry cases with no clinical experience to save money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp your entire administration team. There are people who have been there too long so they are incapable of being impartial which leads to a hostile work environment. Management is not held accountable for poor decision making and instead make the people who are doing the day-to-day work with children and families suffer.

I worked at The Children's Village

    Pros

Clinical Supervision was very detailed and much time was devoted to it. Team support was also very encouraging and the families that participated in the community base programs were wonderful.

    Cons

The paperwork load was at best horrible and at its worst unmanageable. There was a pretty high turnover rate which leads to very low workplace moral.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take staff suggestions to heart. It is important to listen to the staff that does the hard in the trenches work. Really listen to what they have to say and take action based on their recommendations.
