    Pros

There's lots of fun activities, great people, and good work to be done.
There's several smart and driven people too.

    Cons

Depending on the position, promotions are hard to find.

    Pros

    Awesome benefits, stable company.

    Cons

The overall culture is good, if not just a bit on the conservative and stuffy side. However, the marketing department leadership is toxic. It's improved a little over the years, but for some odd reason the behavior has been tolerated from the executive department for years despite many complaints to HR. Also, don't sit at the middle table in the cafeteria (it's a weird unspoken rule that only the executives sit there).

I worked at The Doctors Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

cheap lunches, easy to be lazy, comfortable cubes, fund holiday parties, bonus structure is pretty good, not very challenging work, school reimbursement

    Cons

very bureaucratic, hire senior positions from outside firm, pay scale not merit or qualification based, many people doing the same job have salaries with as much as a 6 figure spread with little to no correlation with work product or seniority.

I worked at The Doctors Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The product is genuinely useful and doctors need it.

    Cons

There are no promotions unless you are in the inner circle. VP is devastatingly harsh, incredibly harsh. Company culture is in many ways backward.

    Pros

Compensation; Benefits; Supportive and friendly co-workers; Vacation

    Cons

Work/Life Balance Poor; Limited training and advancement opportunities; Favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the employees who do the work. Stop protecting some managers who need to work harder at the expense of their team.

I have been working at The Doctors Company full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Leadership is very smart and of the highest integrity -- quite above any other company I've experienced in my 20+ year career. Company is whole-heartedly mission driven: owned by doctors and committed to furthering quality medical care. It's a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

Long-ish commute, a bit top-heavy with some VPs acting rather than being the real deal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More young, innovative talent nurturing will go a long way to maintaining growth

I have been working at The Doctors Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

$2 lunches, onsite gym, good bonuses, promising employment outlook. In my department there is a very clear career path that you can follow if you desire. As new companies are acquired, the appetite to be bigger and better grows.

    Cons

Growing pains with said acquisitions. In the past few years some perks that we used to receive have been cut, such as service awards celebrations, company picnics, employee activities committee, etc. Passive/aggressive management practices affect employee morale as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivating employees is key. Finding creative and often inexpensive or free ways to do this is key. Recognizing employees amongst their peers, giving a preferred parking spot for a week to a top performer, or picking up the tab on their $2 lunch are all ways that have a great impact.
