    Pros

Flexible scheduling, since I am a full time student, I can only work weekends, yet still make enough to support myself

    Cons

There is really no opportunities for advancement. If you want to earn more, then you need to pick up more hours.

I worked at The Educational Alliance full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Program staff are caring, provides vital services to the local community

    Cons

Dysfunction within the finance department, disconnection from administrative roles and actual services, middle-level staff poorly paid while senior management staff highly overpaid and inefficient, few benefits and perks to improve organizational morale

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the concerns and needs of your staff and programs!

    Relaxed Atmosphere, but Disorganized

I have been working at The Educational Alliance full-time

    Pros

The people are generally laid back, and there are many opportunities to make a real difference in someone's life.

    Cons

The pay is ridiculously low, while the higher ups have inflated salaries. There is a lot of disorganization at all levels.

    Casually confusing variety of services

I have been working at The Educational Alliance

    Pros

The atmosphere is casual and very personable. There is little competition for rivalry between departments but it is in part due to their desire not to work rogether. Lots of training and development opportunities as well as opportunities to cross train and get exposure to other social service and non profit fields. Co workers are very nice and comraderie is high. Union is a great benefit.

    Cons

Little opportunity for promotion due to downsizing and "old guard" stay ons. Management is often confusing making decisions that are not well explained to the point of seeming not well thought out. The organizations mission is unclear to rank and file other than service provision. Upper management has little appreciation or respect for employees "on the line" in comparison to those directly working for management. Attitudes are often even condescinding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a goal set that is clear and clear mission statement. Most employees have no idea. Lose some of the top heavy management and increase service providers.

Great Service to the LES Community

I worked at The Educational Alliance

    Pros

Very relaxed atmosphere, overall open-door policy among senior management, Sr. management realizes their employees are what makes them such a successful contribution to the community

    Cons

Not much "fit"-- rather, hire anyone who's available. Of course, as a non-profit, they don't have much room to be choosy, but without proper fit, there's constantly head-butting and imbalanced management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The recent (and ongoing?) restructuring was rather frustrating because it seemed Sr. Management didn't know if it was coming or going.
