  1. Yet another case of middle management just getting in the way.

    Pros

The quality of the Developers, Quality Assurance and Business Analysts are well above average in general.

    Cons

With the exception of a select couple, Project Managers lack knowledge of the process of building and maintaining technical products. Estimates are treated as deadlines and developers are constantly under fire to justify estimates that "feel high" by non-technical management. Projects were often grossly underbid strictly to get the business. This leads to poor timelines, QA and more than often developers working 50-80 hours to make up time. Developer burn-out is extremely high.

    Advice to Management

You need to learn to be effective leaders before becoming innovators and executors.

    Pros

Most of the employees and middle management were pleasant to work with.

    Cons

The CEO changes leaders and strategy like she changes shoes. The is no focus or direction. In the limited time I was with the organization the strategy changed 3 times, with little to no time to see if one strategy would work. CEO seems fickle and hires people on a whim and then tries to find a place for them.

    Advice to Management

Find a strategy and stick with it. Treat people with dignity and respect.

    Pros

Depends on which location - Can be good as long as you are willing to be a yes man at times.

    Cons

Does not really do .NET development, yet uses .NET environment to code. Made excuses instead of taking advise on an issue that caused a 3 day standstill. Refused to do work for new hires unless main office actually told them to do. Refused to listen to another former employee when told a correct technique and instead said to do it our way so we can get this out the door.

    Advice to Management

Ensure you treat everyone with professionalism.
