A great place to build a career in learning and development.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsA fabulous group of people; highly collaborative, engaging, high standards. A blue chip client base. Very customer-focused and innovative.

ConsChanges in top level management at Forum and parent company have created stress and threatened the culture.

Small Company, Good Benefits, Low Career Growth Opportunity

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Boston, MA

    Pros- Excellent Pay and Compensations/Bonus
    - Friendly, collaborative employees
    - Smart employees dedicated to the Business
    - Good Work/Life Balance, telecommute possible

ConsWorking at Forum is OK. A lot has changed since the past reviews posted on this website. More Layoffs due to the economy and politics. Too many "upper management" roles, too junior level roles. Upper management completely sales driven--whole company revolves around the sales department neglecting other important business issues. Corporate structure does not make sense. Too many meetings--not a clear strategy every year. Overall, unstructured and unprepared.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more structure in the organization, especially strategy wise. Would be nice to have a good balance instead of being so focused/driven on sales.

Strong Client Delivery Teams Carry the Company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Boston, MA

Pros- Strong client delivery teams that often "wows" customers
    - Good foundational mid-level leadership content
    - Interesting client projects
    - Flexible work schedules
    - Good pay
    - Collegial, friendly atmosphere
    - Sales driven culture
    - Managers provide good coaching, especially in client delivery areas

Cons- R&D and Marketing are disconnected from customers
    - Difficult to engage management in changing processes--very hierarchical and territorial as most senior managers have been with Forum for 15-20 years
    - The lack of customer data beyond each consultant's last experience provides lots of debate, few substantive strategic decisions. This lack of agility can be frustrating if you think because of its small size and brainpower they might accomplish more.
    - Management coaching in sales areas often not reliable
    - Many are afraid to voice their opinions openly

Advice to Senior Management1) Get serious about listening to customers. Collect, aggregate and analyze customer data for Strategy, R&D, Marketing and Sales purposes.
    2) Consider getting fresh blood into the senior management ranks
    3) Listen carefully to front-line employees and engage them in improving processes

A high quality company with a great environment

Account Director (Former Employee) Boston, MA

ProsGreat environment, smart people, exceptional quality of services provided. They are true experts in adult learning in the areas of sales, leadership and customer experience. They also pay a pretty high level of compensation. The company culture is truly people-oriented and there is a sense that the top-level leaders do listen to and care about each and every employee.

ConsTough industry in a struggling economy. The Forum is a highly respected company in the Northeastern USA, but unknown in many other parts of the US. They haven't historically invested much money into marketing and therefore continue to remain unknown outside of the Northeast and former clients.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe willing to be more realistic versus not wanting to "hurt people's feelings".

ProsIt's incredibly collaborative, positive, and supportive culture.

    Great people, collaborative culture

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsI work in Forum EMEA (the London office) and have never worked with such a great group of people. Everyone is supportive and collaborative. They work hard but maintain a healthy work life balance, which is driven by the regional MD. Many of us work remotely at least once a week.

Forum is a global organisation headquartered in the US, this office has worked hard at instilling a strong local culture while continually collaborating with the rest of the business. Many of us have calls with our counterparts overseas daily.

Opportunities arise to work within other parts of the business and other geographies.

ConsForum has been traditionally slow to make decisions or move forward on some issues. This is being addressed but we're still not there yet.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire new talent who can bring in fresh ideas and help drive Forum forward into the future.
CEO: Be more visible, spend more time in regional offices

its a good place to work

Project Coordinator (Current Employee) Pune (India)

ProsIts a good company and the assts are the employees here who are building it up each day .

ConsI dont see so much of Cons but it would have been better if the systems and processes were more well defined.

Good place to learn if you are self sufficient

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe people are the glue that hold the company together. If you are happy to take charge of your own development then you can succeed.

ConsNot a place for those who need a work/life balance or for those who do not have inquiring minds. Thinks do not get done as quickly as necessary

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget that it is the people who make this company successful. Processes can only go so far and will not replace the knowledge of the group

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
