Pros
Discount and flexibility of schedule.
Cons
Management never distribute hours properly .
Pros
DIscount. Music. Co-workers are nice and pleasure to see everyday.
Cons
Pay. Growth. Hours. Make growth opps for attainable and offered to employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase pay and make advancement opps better.
Pros
all benefits begin day 1, store to store suport but the agent must reach out
Cons
No handcuffs, no hands on, store GM's will find everything done as incorrect when apprehending shoplifers (things normal at other companies) but quick to critisize when apprehensions not made. Typically, immediate LP supervisor in another state and the agent may never meet them other than to have weekly phone conversations.
Advice to Senior Management
Possitive Feedback is important, cut back on the riducle
Pros
The Gap (corporate) is a great place to start a career because they encourage feedback from managers and use many "best practices" that you can take with you on your future career.
Cons
The Gap (corporate) is a large company, so it's not as agile and open to innovation as smaller fashion companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to question the way things are to open chances for innovation. There are clear roles and processes, which is good in many ways, but doesn't allow for much of an entrepreneurial spirit.
Pros
Great people, great location, energetic environment
Cons
It is better to be lucky than to be skilled or work hard.
Pros
It is a friendly work environment, and the hours were manageable. I enjoyed the organization of how the company had the store laid out.
Cons
Sometimes, I would come to work a few minutes late, and I would be swamped with work right away, because people come rushing in from the very beginning.
Advice to Senior Management
You're doing a great job! Make sure everyone is happy by keeping a close knit, friendly work environment within your company.
Pros
Helpful co-workers, hard-work is recognized, good employee discount, monthly meetings to help you motivate and perks like pizzas to spoil you.
Cons
push from the management team to open Gap credit account for customers was unbearable and extremely annoying. merchandise display is never eye-catching.
Advice to Senior Management
Please do appoint qualified people to perform the management duties. Have seen people moving from loss prevention agent position to a manager position.
Pros
Great discount. Great Team Building within the company. Fantastic on boarding materials.
Cons
Unrealistic expectations. Unclear communication. The company has lost site of its employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on regaining those core values that made me so motivated and proud to represent the brand. Sometimes too much change can be a bad thing.
Pros
-discount
-good performance is rewarded in hours scheduled for part-timers
Cons
-lower level management is usually people in their early 20s who think they're something special when they're really not. they need to learn to treat employees with more respect and less entitlement.
- I am very responsible, have a diverse resume and am working in retail for fun and experience in the apparel industry. I am given more responsibility but definitely not more compensation than most sales associates.
-selling the gap card becomes tedious.
-the company as a whole is not doing well, but somehow sales associates are made to feel responsible for low numbers. We are apprised of the goals for the day and asked to upsell the customers, though its hard to tell whether we are making an impact since there is no commission system. even if there is work for us to do, we will be sent home if the store is not meeting its hourly goals. It frustrates me that that the company thinks its important to save 9 dollars by sending me home an hour early, when they are more than 1000 dollars down. That hourly wage means a lot more to the employee than it does to the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to be more mature around employees, they themselves need to follow the rules that they expect the employees to follow.
Pros
The benefits are a HUGE +++. Management is really caring and easy to talk to.
Cons
Sometimes the hours weren't the best. Customers can be REALLY nasty. You have to get at least 1 gap card every 3 shifts or you get the boot.
Advice to Senior Management
More room for advancement within the company would be nice.
