Advice to Senior Management
give more opportunities to employees and keep them informed with promotions and job advancements. also they should stop playing favorites with certain employees, but i suppose you will have that all all the companies.
Pros
Worklife balance and a strong benefits package. 20 days of PTO in the first year 25 after 5 years
Cons
As a manager you take quarterly surveys pertaining to the company and leader. If there is too much negative Human Resources will come into all of the stores to do climate surveys. This is to take the heat off of the DM and place it in the stores.
Advice to Senior Management
Store Leadership Teams are employees of the same company
Pros
Friendly environment
Open communication from managers
Schedule flexibility - Management works with your availability as best as possible, and there is usually no problem with switching or giving your shifts away if you need to.
Excellent discount at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic.
Competitions and incentives to boost employee morale and productivity
Cons
Closing Shifts - You are scheduled until a certain time, but expected to stay until your team is complete. From the outside looking in this seems fair, but if my schedule says I leave at a certain time, then I want to leave at that time. Not 12 or 1AM.
Floor coverage is sometimes poor, which makes the store more difficult to close at night.
Training Process - was minimal. This is more of a learn-as-you-go type of job. Expect to spend your first few weeks slightly clueless about many procedures, especially folding. With closing, they may expect you to be fast, but fail to properly show you how to fold or hang the merchandise.
Gap Cards - Management is often times very overbearing with pushing the Gap Cards on customers.
Advice to Senior Management
The company seems to be headed in the right direction. A few changes will most likely benefit everyone in the long run.
Pros
They teach you all the skills needed to maintain a retail store appearance. Also the discounts are great.
Cons
lack of growth opportunity within the company and low pay rates.

The best reasons for working at The Gap was the atmosphere with working with many different people and interacting with customers.

Advice to Senior Management
Some advice to the leadership at The Gap is to continue to reach out to customers to understand their needs and focus on the market.

Little room for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
You're fine, I just need a job with more hours.
Pros
Regular retail job that is pretty much the same anywhere, you stock shelves and help with cus service. It is busy during the holiday seasons.
Cons
Low wages and pay. This can make working there tough and hours can be hard to come by. Hires during the holiday season can be let go.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing really, the managers there try to get you to upsell, and sell thier store credit cards, but you are offered prizes for this.
