Great Experience So Far

Merchandiser (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

ProsGreat group of people that I work with and awesome store manager. As a part-time merchandiser I work early morning shifts that are four hours. Starting anymore from 5am to 7am on weekdays. Saturdays are usually 8am, but sometimes earlier. Rarely work Sundays unless a bunch of merchandise needs to be marked down beginning that day. It's nice working before the store even opens.

ConsNot a lot of store hours to give, but the Gap that I work out is a smaller store. Probably couldn't go full time if I wanted to, or support myself if I did get moved to full time status.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet merchandisers have more freedom in styling the store and mannequins rather than sending us pictures of exactly how the mannequins and store are supposed to look.

Best company to work for

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Brea, CA

I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

ProsI love working for gap because there isn't that pressure of a "car salesman" style selling. Instead we are encouraged to be nice and helpful to customers. We build relationships with them instead of trying to trick them into buying something. I love going to work for once :)

Consfew work hours and 3 hour shifts

Cool Enviroment for College Students

Sales Associate (Current Employee)
Durham, NC

I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

ProsDiscounts are amazing!! Always sales. Dress codes are pretty laid back, you can almost wear anything. The company was really friendly as well.

ConsYou have to be 100% committed to selling Gap cards. They make you study "reward incentives" to basically make people open credit cards without telling them its credit cards.

Classic, Cool and Lovable

Retail Sales Associate (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at The Gap part-time for more than a year

ProsI love the enthusiasm employees have about working with Gap. Everyone i work with has been a customer before they worked for the company. Because of this we know the product intimately.

ConsStore management has an extremem fear of upsetting customers. The company is to quick to give refunds for items that are passed the return period. I once had a manager give a full refund for an item that the company no longer produced. the item was about three two years old.

Advice to Senior ManagementStand by your policy and stick up for employees more.

Everything I ever could have asked for in an internship.

Intern (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at The Gap as an intern for less than a year

ProsI found I had more responsibility as an intern than post associates do in an entry level full time position and absolutely loved it. Although at times it could be challenging, I was coached along the way and supplied all the support and encouragement I could ever need. Gap has a great and supportive culture that I think is one of their strongest assets. Work/life balance was great. It wasn't uncommon for people to arrive around 9am and leave by 5:30pm at the latest. The employee discount also doesn't hurt.

ConsNot a lot of entry level career opportunities.
